Hello,

I've been looking for a vintage mtb 26" to use as a city bike and commuting and I came across to this lovely restored GT Tequesta. I'm really new to this world of biking and I'd like to know what you think about this and if it's worth 400 euros.
The size is 52cm (21.4 inches) and I'm 1.86 m (6.1 feet), It might be a bit too small but I'm not sure.

Big thanks in advance

  1. Hi, that is not a 21.4/52cm frame, that’s more like 17″-19″, size S to M. It’s a nice but not spectacular restoration. I like that they incorporated the original stem and forks. It’s limited by the U-brake in the rear, which is why they couldn’t upgrade to V-brakes. If you don’t have the time, tools, and/or knowledge, paying €400 for a bike that will last a long time is not a terrible decision. This one is far too small for you, though.

  2. It’s a $100 bike when in neglected condition. $80 for tire set. Cheap rack $30. Bars which I think are quite nice ~$60. Convert to euro and maybe 200-250 isn’t insane but only as long as you like all the specifics. If you don’t like the way it was finished you are better off getting one that’s old and stock and doing it yourself.

One thing, I bet these bars totally rock on the straights and are super comfy but are probably frustrating around tight turns especially with the saddle height. Going to conflict with knees a lot.

  3. I have the exact same frame in a larger size that I’m working on (not sure what size mine is but the head tube is bigger than the one you’re looking at). I’m 5’11” and it fits me well so I would assume this frame is a little too small for you if you’re 6’1″.
