I'm a beginner cyclist trying to get into the hobby and I messaged the seller, but no reply yet because it's so early. Is this a reasonable starter bike or should I try to get a trek bike on sale that is reasonably priced for a new bike right now? It's mostly just for exercise, but potentially doing the 25 mile PanMass challenge next year or the year after.

These are the options otherwise right now.
Also I can’t edit the main post, but the bike on question is $325.
If you like it and are going to ride it I say go for it!
Next year that bike will be 20 years old.
Is suggest getting something slightly newer.
Hmmm, why is it a 2×7 when Tiagra is supposed to be 2×10?
From my perspective this is a vintage bike in a very good condition. But even 20yrs back it was low specced.
I would not buy it if you are starting woth sportive cycling and planning to have fun on your bike.
The condition is very good for its age, but the tech is veeery outdated.
OK I’ll probably just end up with a new bike because all the bikes I can find on marketplace seem to be older bikes
