hey i need your help guys. we are starting a bike trip next week from bari in italy. full rigid mtb, medium to light'ish load and 4 weeks off.

do you think this trip is too ambitious? especially looking at the climbs. we really wanna go into the mountains but could be a pain while having almost every day 1000 meters to climb.

what do you think?
and any tipps for the route?
(the slowenian part is still work in Progress)

thank you

  1. Why not, you can always change the route on the fly (we all do that). Just do it.

It depends really on fitness and sores on the ass. On itself it seems pretty ok (my usual rides are 100k 2.5-3k hm . On a gravel bike in mtb parcours at time

  3. Impossible to tell. For me, it might be borderline doable. For my friend, enjoyable. For my other friend, impossible. 🤷 But only you can say if days like 50 km and 2000 m of climbing are too hard.
Do plan some rest days. It helps mentally and physically.
Go to West Slovenia, it’s beautiful! There are a lot of bike trails there, I’m sure you’ll find something that works for you.

I think with any trip that brings new people or Untested fitness or maybe is a little ambitious…rest days.

Like 2 planned into the first 7. And then maybe 1-2 a week after that. Personally, I’d just plan 5 on, 2 off and if you end up not needing them push ahead and bank them for later when you might.
