  1. boootfruitster on

If you skid to slow down/stop, just make sure you don’t twist your front foot sideways/outward (or else you might unclip accidentally).

Took some getting used to but now I basically twist my front foot inward when pulling up to prevent unclipping before I let my back leg handle the skid

  2. you will feel silly but lean against a pole and clip in and out of each side like 50 times.
better silly in private than falling over at a traffic light. you’re on road pedals so practice flipping the pedals over too.

if road pedals feel like too much work consider mtb SPDs, many people love them cos you’re never on the wrong side. one less thing to worry about at a busy intersection

  3. just crank retention to max and you’ll be fine. also just run clears with a good amount of float so you have that forgiveness when skidding aggressively.

i’ve only unclipped bombing a hill once in my several years of riding and that was in my early years and because my cleat was so worn haha
keep an eye on your cleat wear and practice clipping back in while moving at varied speeds and you’ll be good!
