Devon Simmonds has been identified as the 15-year-old who lost his life following an e-bike crash in Middleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester. He has been described as a “top, top lad” by those that knew him.

Emergency services did what they could to revive him, but tragically he couldn’t be saved. Greater Manchester Police said his family is now being supported by specialist officers.

Police have taken a 59-year-old male into custody, where he is being questioned on suspicion of murder. Officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident and are investigating allegations of a theft in the events leading up to collision, GMP said. Another boy, also aged 15, has been arrested on suspicion of theft.

An update has been released today in relation to a case in Manchester that many people may have been aware of yesterday that took place where a young lad 15 years of age was killed uh after allegedly stealing an e scooter at knife point. uh the father of the child who allegedly had the scooter stolen, pursued after the alleged robber uh in his car and hit him in the vehicle in a in a street in the street in Manchester. Uh the father has now been arrested for murder. Details are emerging about this case. uh the young lad who was killed. Another 15year-old has been arrested on suspicion of theft and the father is undergoing questioning for murder. So we’ll have a uh we’ll have a look at the short video clip. Uh someone’s doorbell camera captured this and uh you can see this uh yourself. So this is the street in question. Uh there’s no sound on this clip, but you’ll see uh the the scooter flying down the street there. So that’s the one that was apparently stolen at knife point. Uh followed by this car uh plowing down the street and making contact. So it all happens quickly. Looks like it happens extremely fast, but this is real time speed. There’s a timer up in the top leftand corner there. Uh and you can see that this is happening in real speed. So uh the both the the scooter and the the vehicle were flying literally flying down the street at very very high speeds and despite the best evident efforts of ambulances at the time. Uh this is uh the cordone that was put up around the scene of the incident uh where they’re performing forensic investigations as this is now a murder inquiry. So uh the background uh again some of you may be aware of this uh if not it’s it’s certainly developing and an update has been issued. So a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Uh two arrests have been made so far. The man who was driving the car and uh a second teenager, 15year-old has been arrested also. The teenager was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and a 59year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following uh his death. So they tried to save him at the scene after the collision. Uh I believe emergency services were called but uh the lad passed away. Uh Greater Manchester Police said officers were called out yesterday at around about midday. Uh the young lad was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMP Greater Manchester Police are currently investigating the incident which involved a collision between the car and the bike. So we know the 59year-old is in custody. A large cordon remains in place at Rura Cresant. Uh so they’re trying to piece together the details exactly what happened. A lot of allegations flying around at this stage, but we do know that another male aged 15 has been arrested on suspicion of theft as part of that ongoing work by the police. So there were two alleged thieves uh in relation to this. uh one of whom is dead, died at the scene. The other one is under arrest. The man uh has been arrested on suspicion of murder, will be questioned in due course. Uh police reminding people that there’s a grieving family there. Do not speculate on social media while we place together the events of earlier today. So there is an update on this. There is an update on this that was released by Greater Manchester Police today. So, they have issued a murder investigation update. Uh, and this is the the youth who was uh uh deceased at the scene. His name is Devin Simmons. Devin Simmons. Tributes have been paid to him uh after he after he passed away. Uh the man in question obviously at the police station, he’s being investigated for murder. Now, as you could see from that video clip, uh he was uh driving at very high speeds through that housing area. And the tributes that have came in for this young lad, apparently graffiti has been sprayed on the walls. Large groups of youth have been gathering around. tensions are very very high in the area. Uh his friends and family are extremely upset not just about him dying but in the manner in which he died and another uh friend of his has posted up a a farewell message on Facebook apparently. This one just came out this morning. Rest in peace Devon. Gone too soon. You will forever be missed. gone but never forgotten. This world is too cruel. So that’s the state of play at the moment. Uh let me know what you think in relation to, you know, what happened. Uh obviously all this happened pretty much in the in the twinkling of an eye. You know, the the the alleged robbery, the getaway, the followup, the collision, just like that. Just like that, we have a a dead teenager. We have a man arrested for murder. We have another lad locked up on suspicion of theft. And we have tensions that are very very high in the area. Uh allegedly there was a lot of antisocial behavior happening in that area as well. And tensions are continuing to rise. So leave me your thoughts and opinions in this one below. Uh father acting out of heat of the moment. Uh was he right? Was he wrong? Obviously, he’s been arrested for murder. Uh and you can’t just jump in your car and go driving over people if they commit even the theft uh of a of an escooter. But society is in a bad bad way at the minute. Tensions are so so high and people are feeling that they’re being failed by the police and failed by their government. And we’re starting to see communities and groups of people patrolling areas to self police areas to take care of business themselves when they feel that they’ve been left down let down by their local authorities or by the police or whoever it happens to be. And I’m not justifying or condoning any of these actions in any way, shape, or form, but I’m saying that they’re happening at the minute and there’s no getting away from it. And we’re seeing more and more reports of things like this that are happening or groups that are taking care of their own communities when they feel that the police have actually let them down. So, what are your thoughts on that? Please leave me your thoughts, comments, opinions below in the comments box. And uh are you in the area? Are you witnessing this? Are you following this case? What are your thoughts on it? Obviously, as time passes by, more information will become available. Uh, but for now I’m Rick Mun. This is No Risk No Reward Media. Over and out.

  1. I think you should've told the entire story. You told only one side
The side of the attacker who didn't just steal a bike. Show what he did then you video would not be so one sided. Lazy lazy reporting or bias?? Both show ignorance

  2. its happening far too much! these bikes should be banned full stop!, the youths are covering their faces so they cannot be recognised if they injure or kill someone!

  3. So the moral of the story is Rick. Never change ur mind being in a awkward predicament. The young lad seems to have stopped the bike. Sadly this is the poxy justice system 😢

  4. Are you purposely leaving out the video of that thief swinging a machete at the kids head even though the kid already gave his bike to the thief?????

  5. "allegedly" people like this are why the country is taken over in the first place. this dude probably loves not being able to own proper tools to defend himself.

  6. You people in England have completely lost control of your country. You've allowed nitwits to control your country who have brought in the worlds low-lifes – those with no purpose on earth – they're like rats that have overtaken a barn and destroy everything and then deficate all over the place. Your country is ruined, you're people have extremely low IQs and you have nothing.

  7. This poster doesn't know the definition of theft. Shoplifting and burglary is theft. Using a weapon and taking property by force is classified as armed robbery.

Society is better with that 15-year-old no longer part of it!

  8. Alleged? Why not show the actual robbery video too? Clearly shows 2 lads on an e-bike ..1 git off with what looks like a machete and attacks a rider/steals his bike and rides away.
Manchester police paid tribute to the dead lad? Maybe…just maybe if we started pointing out the obvious that actions gave consequences these hirrigmfic events might not keep happening.

  9. You relinquish your rank as "young lad" when you became a robber. On you are then bestowed the rank of "hardened criminal". These are 2 different playing fields. Young lads are playing rugby, cricket and soccer. Criminals are fugitives of the law and opponent's of the community. Different playing fields, different outcomes.

  10. Yet again the criminal looks like the victim when in actual fact was the offender with a machete trying to kill the kid he stole the e bike from .. justice system stinks

  11. Hey my British friends? How is that lovely Islam treating you guys now? Aren't you tired of all the thievery and rape gangs? Man it's almost like the intelligent people and the racist Americans were right about what would happen if you just allowed military aged males from the Middle East enter all willy nilly.

  12. This is a 'kid' who knew from experience that his age would never land him in prison no matter the crime. I cant begin to tell you how many fatherless dregs are brought up with this background in our cities.
