No, you did not accidentally click on r/bicyclingcirclejerk. Me and the boys set out to do a century this weekend. 5 miles in and it started to pour rain. Soon after, my buddy tells me that I was "foaming". I wondered if this was some cycling term I was unaware of. Nope, I was literally foaming.
Apparently one Tide Pod on a gentle cycle is too much soap. These are Assos bibs with a very thick pad that essentially acted as a sponge. For the first 50 miles soap continued to pour out. At one point I became legitimately concerned that I'd get soap on my disc breaks. There were some pretty good downhills on this ride and it was very wet.
Fortunately, the bathroom at the gas station at the 50 mile mark was the kind where the whole room locks. Here I am, naked in a gas station bathroom wringing out my cycling bibs in the sink and contemplating all of my previous life choices up to this point. I'm still in disbelief about how much soap I could squeeze out of the bibs before the water ran clear. We set back out and the final 50 miles were uneventful.
TL/DR Watch how much soap you use when you wash your bibs or you might end up nude in a gas station bathroom.

>!Now can you fart soap bubbles?!<
I have observed this on rainy rides. May not be detergent, but the squish of the water in the foam chamois making the bubbles
Are KOM jokes allowed in this sub?
Saw this in a race. Mixed bunch, one of the gals pointed it out and said “Least you know he’s clean!” and got a good laugh.
I don’t know what you use for fabric softener, but white vinegar does a pretty effective job of getting soap out.
*not enough rinsing…
Get the liquid and use 1/2 or 1/4 as much as they tell you to most he washers can clean with even less.
I run my cycling stuff with my work stuff on delicates. Our washing machine has a bin that holds detergent in bulk, I fill it once a month or so, the machine dispenses it from there.
I wash and dry all my bibs on delicate and have not had your issue. I have however had my washer leak with suds from too much soap. If I applied a small dab of dawn on a stain, that can happen in my washer but never on the trail that I have noticed.
Pearl Izumi bibs too.
Rocking Green is detergent especially for athletic clothes. I dona wash of just bike/ athletic clothes, 2 scoops rocking Green, and wash on delicate/ cold water. Air dry/ tumble on low.
Works 100% of the time every time
This is actually a result of fabric softener

I get the same with Assos pads (and a few others). I think they just tend to absorb and then hold onto the soap residue no matter what. Doesn’t really seem to matter how much detergent I use.
I don’t use fabric softener and this still tends to happen, so I don’t think it can be blamed on that.
At least you felt clean and fresh after the ride….
It’s called “The GÜ leakage”
Happens to my mate every time it rains. It’s like a snow storm some times.
Not sure if it’s his washing machine cycle or what.
Bruh! I know cycling is fun, but come on man.
Definitely not piss, sweat, and chamois butter. Definitely laundry detergent.
Oooo, is that hair gel?
I had the remnants of a tide pod not dissolve on my chamois and it ended up chemical burning my nards, it was really painful for a few days. Hopefully my future kids end up normal.

At least your farts won’t smell bad.
Had this happen at a crib race in a sudden downpour. Entire peloton had foamy derrieres.
Apart from the foam, didn’t it smell like a whole washing saloon? I very quickly notice when I’ve used too much laundry detergent because it smells awful.
Happened to me on the last day or RAGBRAI after the heavy rain.
It is what it is.
This guy KOM’s hard!
