We hear from Tadej Pogacar as to why he didn’t blow apart Tour de France 2025 Stage 19 to La Plange. Tactics worked against him, and Thymen Arensman stole the show. #TDF

Before the stage, you told us that you wanted to try and win the stage. It looked like the team wanted to win during the whole stage, but it it wasn’t it wasn’t good enough. Yes. Um we did a very good job uh until the last climb and then some teams uh some some riders think they can uh can sprint 19 kilometers of the climb. So, um yeah, the pace was uh incredibly high at the start and then uh yeah, I was uh thinking uh yeah that maybe Honas want to win stage also but um then uh he was just holding on to my will and uh Aronman went on a good attack. I decided not to follow. Set my set my rhythm, defensive rhythm that I feel comfortable with and and yeah, um in the end was like this. Uh I’m just happy it’s over and uh yeah, two more days to to Paris because it was you look you look pretty exhausted. Were you at the limit today? It’s time the tour finishes. I mean I had to pull I had to pull the whole the whole climb in the end. Um so yeah um of course I I came quite tired to the finish line but uh yeah also just uh yeah uh it was tough the last three days for me and u so yeah I’m happy that uh today is over and yeah we go to tomorrow the mountains are over you could be more than optimistic on a on that victory on the front yeah uh but you never know it’s to the front and uh it’s two more days we keep concentrated and Uh yeah, let’s go. Thank you. Thank you. Today, today was a really great stage for you. Uh you you’ve been with the best until the finish. Uh how was your day? Uh super good day and uh I think we showed we are a strong team today with uh Andrea’s pulling and uh yeah, we we had a really good day. The GC will not change so much anymore for sure. So you secure a really good position in Paris. Are you are you happy? And uh wow. uh happy tonight. Yeah, for sure we can be happy. This is uh I think top 10 would have been better than we dreamt of, but now I think we might do even better. So, uh yeah, super good uh day for us and uh yeah, it’s going to be a hard one tomorrow and in Paris as well. So, uh we’re going to fuel up and be ready for tomorrow. Last question. Two more days to go. How do you see the those last two days? It’s going to be hard I think especially tomorrow has the potential to be a fireworks of a stage and uh yeah we hope to get Abramson or someone else in the break. Thank you and bravo. Um uh Felix again with the best today. So you should be satisfied after this stage. Yeah, of course. I’m uh I’m super happy with today. Yeah, I did feel super good at the start on cold de, but uh yeah, then after a while I got uh I I found the legs again and uh I mean then yeah, the the team did an incredible job on the on the final climb to to set a high pace um to put time into Rogich or at least to give it a try and in the end it also it worked out and um that was also then uh my goal um uh yeah to just put as much time into him as possible and uh I was not really thinking about any any day result then at this point it was the last mountain stage of this to the front so you probably secure a good GC now you’re satisfied for sure because it should be uh not so much change in the last two days hopefully not we it’s not finished yet but uh it’s looking pretty good and on the first rest day I was seventh in GC and I already said there if I’m going to be seventh in Paris I’m going to be very very happy um now I’m fifth at the moment so yeah even better. And uh yeah, Alps sweets you this year. Yes, I’m uh I’m very happy uh with with how it went. Period. Very very good. And now again, thank you.

  1. "I decided to set my rhythm, defensive rhythm that I feel comfortable with"….. That's the real story. Tadej has a 4+ minute lead, he only needs to ride defensively. Sure, a stage win would have been nice, but not at the expense of the yellow. Jonas just sat on Tadej's wheel the whole climb, as if Jonas has a 4 minute lead rather than deficit. Jonas was the person that needed to win the stage and gain time on Tadej, not the other way around. If anybody failed on this stage it was Jonas, as he did nothing to get meaningfully closer to yellow and hasn't won a stage yet at this Tour.

  2. Tadej looks bit tired, not at his best and missing Joao A to help him the last miles in stage 18 & 19. But in spite of not being 100% and with a team also not at 100%, they won 5 stages and the Yellow all the way.

  3. He basically said "I have a big lead, I didn't need to push myself to win the stage because it's all about Paris and I rode my ride to get there in yellow"

  4. These guys are getting too nice and friendly with each other. Jonas and Todej just sit there and let that guy win the stage when they could’ve easily dropped him kilometers ago..no excitement at all for the fans.

  5. He easily could have win if he really wanted, Jonas couldn’t even try to attack today which is a bit weird but yeah I think pogi just was disappointed at this point because he had to work alone
