And we just keep chipping away with Casper together with UAE. Trying to cool down in 30 plus degree heat. Yet after 50 km, a colossal breakaway group of 51 riders Inos with no fewer than five in the lead group. All riding in memory of their late sporting director Nicola Portal and their leader Carlos Rodriguez the best placed Escape, 12th overall and nearly 6 minutes from Ben Healey’s yellow jersey. Fan excitement may be contrasted with some trepidation from those on the road. The call to solo the first mountain of this year’s race. Around 2 minutes gap. Could Escapes make a move for stage success. Meanwhile, Vizma setting the pace in the GC favorites group. It proved too hot to handle for some. The white jersey is cracking on this climb already. [Music] leading in the mountain points and moves second five points behind Lenny Martinez. On the descent, Woods was joined by Skeleamosa and Bruno Armaray. It was the Frenchman who elected to kick on as they started the code de Bair, but a long way to make a tour to France’s dream come true. Armaray with two minutes to protect from the group containing Pagacha and Vinegor. A long descent before the or category climbed to Otap. [Music] 13.5 km, 7.8%. We’re on the first o category climb of the tour. Adam Yates says, “I can’t.” No, I can’t. Shakes his head. Now starts the acceleration and really starts to ramp it. Finger can’t go. Finger Godard cannot respond. And Pagatcha attacks. Now the world champion, puts in a hammer blow. And Venard cannot respond in any way. And Pagatcha has ripped away as though he has been fired out of a firework. Yeah, we know when uh then the guard looks behind it looks always is a bad moment but he’s not totally exploded yet. You can catch him back. Come on. Question is how much time can Pagatcha take by the top because he could be putting this tour to France out of sight by the time he gets to the top of AutoCAM today. Pagata with a potentially defining tour blow the gap to Vinegar growing 10 seconds every further kilometer the Slovenian climbed. We had that before game. You do your thing. Two Red Bull Bora Hanser riders in the nearest chase. It was Lipovitz rather than leader Rogich stretching his legs from the group. Time trial to the top. Time trial to the top. A tornado has struck on autoam. The defending champion destroys his rivals. Tare triumphs on autocam. 20 stage wins in the tour to France. And now we wait to find out what the time gaps are going to be. It has been a tough chase up this mountain. Once the world champion went, it was all about a matter of survival and holding your place in the tour. Yonas Wengerard has won on Horicam before. Today he has been beaten by the better man. 2 minutes and 11 seconds is the drop. Look at Leapovitz as he comes up to the finish. A too much flesh. Don’t know how the body reacts after the crash. Really, I’m I’m super happy to take uh to take time and uh and to win on this climb. We had this stage in mind long time and uh yeah, we did it and uh I think this stage can go for uh today for the for somewhere like [Applause] As statements go, this was huge. Pagato banishing memories of cracking in 2022. Vinegor a distant second. Lipawit’s third. Paga storms back into the Mayo and how a whopping 3 minutes 31 seconds on Vinegar. Milan remains in green, but Matthew Vanderpool up to second seems intent on chasing the Italian. Pagata undoubtedly the king of the mountains. Martinez regret not taking an earlier point in the day. And a tough one, but Remco stays in white. The fourth best in the top six overall, but only one man is the tour top dog. [Applause]
