06:07 : Abandon – Joao Almeida

A finish for the sprinters, yes, but possibly with wind today on the Tour de France route. Jonathan Milan won yesterday. Tadej Pogačar remains in yellow, obviously. Steve Chainel and Jacky Durand remain on commentary, obviously, until the end of this Tour de France. Hello Steve. Hello everyone, indeed, today, normally, on paper, it’s a stage really intended for the sprinters. Now, there is an important element at the start of this stage, it’s indeed the wind. The direction of the wind today, with these two parallel sections. If you were with us on the Rois de la Pédale plateau, we saw these climbs. What are Van der Poel and Groves doing to us? Well, well. They want to do 24 kilometers to get the points of… Yeah, yeah. Not bad, not bad. The Alpecin-Deceuninck team that has a plan. As a reminder, there are no difficulties listed in the mountain classification today. However, there is an intermediate sprint near La Belle Indienne, in the commune of Sérigny. And it’s happening after a little over 20 kilometers of racing, at kilometer 24.2 to be exact. And Mathieu Van der Poel is breaking away. Look at Mathieu Van der Poel who’s there. Yeah, that’s nice. Mathieu Van der Poel in a breakaway. Will Lidl-Trek control it? Obviously, no. Neither Lidl-Trek, nor the Intermarché–Wanty team. It’s true that a few days ago, we saw the Intermarché–Wanty team controlling it from the start to go for this intermediate sprint for Biniam Girmay, unfortunately beaten. Now, frankly, I can understand. The Intermarché–Wanty team, for a few days now, we’ve been trying to give Biniam Girmay confidence, who doesn’t necessarily have the legs. So, maybe we’ll try to change strategy. Are they going to sprint or a semblance of a sprint, look. Mathieu Van der Poel who remains wedged in Rickaert’s wheel for the moment. We’re not even going to pretend. We’re arriving together. We’re not even going to pretend. Come on, I’ll leave you. Not even a semblance of a sprint, I would have liked that. Nothing at all. Here, at La Belle Indienne, it’s Mathieu Van der Poel who has just won the 20 points in the intermediate sprint. Objective: green jersey for Mathieu Van der Poel. And the most interesting thing will be now. What will happen? Gets up, doesn’t get up, that’s the whole question. Even if Gianni tells him: “If Mathieu doesn’t want to, he won’t get up.” He didn’t get up just after the finish line. And when we see the information that’s being given, Mathieu’s style, I don’t have the feeling that he’s getting back on his feet. What’s the point of doing this for Alpecin-Deceuninck? What’s the point of doing this when your name is Mathieu Van der Poel, when you potentially have the green jersey as your goal, and when there are still some big names coming to this Tour? What’s the point? They’re bored in the peloton. He’s a rider who, when he’s at the start, if he’s bored, he has to find something. What’s there to do? Udine? Come on. You know what? I’m going to do a little 120 km two-up like that with Jonas, with Rickaert. Simone Consonni and Jonathan Milan in third position. We’re going to launch the sprint. Biniam Girmay is there. And Tim Merlier will do the intermediate sprint. This hasn’t happened very often since the start of this Tour de France, if ever. 200 meters. It’s not going to be very violent. Anthony Turgis is there. An 80-meter sprint. Yes, Jonathan Milan who will have to work hard because Anthony Turgis wasn’t willing to give him [place]. With Jonathan Milan taking third place, fourth place for Girmay, I think. Tim Merlier who came to do the sprint as well. Oh, the IFFs. And almost the entire IFF team at the front. Yes, because there weren’t any smart guys who followed the sprint and who are going to counter as well. We’ll see, because right now, we have on the screen the riders interested in the points. Behind, maybe other riders who followed and who are going to relaunch. Milan, Girmay, Merlier, Turgis for the places of honor in this intermediate sprint and behind, it’s not moving. You say 134 kilometers, 5 minutes. I would already start there by adding an additional element. The question we can ask ourselves, on the Lidl-Trek side, aren’t we going to see Intermarché–Wanty? That’s what I was going to tell you. Aren’t we going to see Soudal–Quick-Step? Who is going to come and help Lidl-Trek? Isn’t Lidl-Trek going to do everything on its own today, here? I have the feeling that we do, because the Intermarché team rode yesterday, but we listed the number of injured riders. So, we’re not going to ask Louis Barré, we’re not going to ask… We have Asgreen, who rode yesterday, to ride today. Tim Merlier’s team, OK, but I think the Soudal–Quick Step team has another objective too. It’s with this wind in the final, it’s to protect a certain Remco Evenepoel. And do we really want to ride? I think there’s still no panic, but the gap continues to grow. We were talking about the invited teams earlier. Maybe we’re discussing. Crash in the peloton. Crash in the peloton. Radio Tour tells us. It’s crashed at the back. The Cofidis team. Hit there. At the moment… Bittner, the sprinter. We took our bags. Sam Watson, the British champion, Sam Watson, caught in this crash, Pavel Bittner, the sprinter from the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team. The nerves are starting. It’s starting. Because there, we were really on a very wide section of road. Ion Izagirre, the Spanish leader of the Cofidis team, one of the leaders of this team. We’ll see, but for the moment, no sign, in fact, of Bora-Hansgrohe. We have a teammate of Tim Merlier, a teammate of Jonathan Milan. And I was going to say, is she alone or… They’re not riding anymore. They’re not riding anymore, they’re not riding anymore. And he told them: We’ll give you a hand to get back to 5 minutes and then you’ll manage. It’s the Soudal-Quick-Step, now. And there, for the first time in more than 15 kilometers, the gap increases. We had gone down to 4 minutes 50 seconds. We’ve gained six seconds back for the leading duo. João Almeida, fourth in the Tour last year, who fell, as we remember, in the final stage of Mur-de-Bretagne. He spent several minutes on the left side of the road, sitting down. He has finally thrown in the towel. João Almeida is leaving the 2025 Tour de France route. A hard blow for Tadej Pogačar’s team. As we saw, this wind is a bit cross-country. And then, there’s a break with the acceleration of Quinn Simmons , who came to Skujins’s aid. Skujins, who has been riding, can no longer keep up. And we saw about fifteen riders getting trapped. Open the echelon, you’ll be all alone. Milan wants to make a break now. Why not? If he finds himself with eight, who will ride after with the eight? Look, a small group, and a certain Van Aert, I think, is trapped. He’s in the second part. He’s the one riding there, in the middle, on the dotted line, who’s going to try to make the jump right away. Yes, it’s Van Aert who’s alone there. It shows that we’ve raised the level and there, we asked the entire Lidl-Trek team to come and ride. Look at her. There aren’t many riders capable of doing that. Arnaud De Lie did it on… In Belgium. In Belgium, on a one-day race, some time ago. Oh la la! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I think he’ll buy it soon. There are the three Picnics. There it is, it’s exploding. Four Picnic Postnl riders are also distanced. Who is in this second peloton? There was Franck Van den Broek, that’s for sure. There’s Oscar Onley, a priori, Jacky, in this group. Yes, let’s say, among the riders in the general classification. There’s Oscar Onley, there was also Wout van Aert, but he, with a great effort, managed to get back alone. Everything should be back to normal, since you can see, the gap is closing , but I think it’s Oscar Onley’s Picnic riders who, for some, have risen from the peloton to bring back their leader. The gap is closing considerably and Maximilian Schachmann has just accelerated. We’re more than just in a chase now. I have the impression, with 44 kilometers to go, that this is one of the key points of this stage today, the arrival in Bourseney. In a few moments, the leaders will be there, but you can see, the peloton is still two minutes behind. Mauro Schmidt is also in command, with Luke Durbridge present with the Jayco AlUla team, who doesn’t want to get caught out. In 10 kilometers, there you go. Look, things are already starting to break. Under the impetus of the Visma Lease Bike. The Visma Lease Bike is accelerating. Waerenskjold, finished. He fell earlier. Let’s remember, Soren Waerenskjold. Yes, we were talking about being full of water before. He’s not that full of water to go up to this tricky passage at 16 kilometers, three-quarters of it water. And we can see Vingegaard’s teammates, but there aren’t many of them either. We only have two left. He’s at Wout. He’s over there. He’s a little further back, in tenth position. We still have one. It’s going fast. It’s going very… It’s going very fast. It’s going to go too fast, even for some. And it could hurt. Laurence Pithie in last position, who’s not far from being distanced now. We find the two leaders again. 30 seconds. And that’s it. And it’s breaking. And there, it’s breaking. It’s Marc Soler who made the break, I think. Marc Soler who’s trying to make the connection, right? It’s possible. Come on, it’s going to go in. He turns around, that’s never a good sign. Who’s turning around there? It’s Wout. It’s Wout who’s getting… Fine, he’s going to get some water bottles. I don’t think so. We have to hurry. He has a bit of experience after all. I don’t think this is the right time to go get supplies. We saw Visma go completely down the line. We saw Levisman go down the girl. Tim Wellens, still there. Guardian angel today of the Yellow Jersey, Tadej Pogacar. Come on, let’s go. Van der Poel, Rickaert. We gave them back 30 seconds. For free. 01’21” at this right turn, 16.5 kilometers to go. And there, watch out, there’s going to be danger within the peloton. There’s going to be palpable tension because anything can break here. Mathieu Van der Poel and Jonas Rickaert at the start of the last 15 kilometers soon with more than a minute’s lead. The peloton is here. Tadej Pogacar in the first positions. It’s nervous, but no one really dares to make a big turn. There’s fatigue. There aren’t many teammates left either. We’ve lost people. It hesitated. Just before, the Lidl Treks started to take turns. And then, finally, it got back to normal. Maybe there’s not enough wind for us to perform. They’re still putting on a show. Yes. Even though we let them. It’s over for Rickaert. I have the feeling that he was doing his last relay or else… He’s hanging on. He’s hanging on. He’s hanging on. He feels it. Come on. And then, we sacrifice Teuns. And Pogi, I don’t know what he’s doing. It’s up to him to catch up. When you see so many Visma Lease a Bike riders positioning themselves at the front of the group, the Yellow Jersey has every interest, without a teammate, in making the effort. Right now, he’s a bit far behind. Be careful, for Pogacar, not to get caught out, a little over 10 kilometers from the finish. He was on the right, he wasn’t sheltered from the wind, either. He’ll have to make the effort in the wind. Whatever happens, these two put on a show today. Ben Healy managed to win after a day spent at the front. Mathieu Van der Poel cracked, he ended up exhausted. But with the Yellow Jersey on his shoulders, will he get the stage victory today? That’s the question everyone’s asking. He still has a 50-second lead with 9.6 kilometers to go. It’s not going to be a big deal today because the teammates are exhausted. Look at Alpecin–Deceuninck starting to catch up. We saw Sylvain Dillier and there, on the left, we saw Émile Versteijnen coming to bother everyone a little. The chase is on fire. Consonni is going for it. Châteauroux, the town where Marc Cavendish won the first of his 35 Tour road victories. It’s over for Jonas Rickaert, 6 kilometers. He pulls away and lets Mathieu Van der Poel finish alone to try to secure a second victory in this 2025 Tour de France after Boulogne-sur-Mer. Yeah, on that little false flat, we saw him have a good time. He must have anticipated this by saying to Mathieu: I’ll give you the foot of the false flat and after that, I won’t be of any help. Go ahead, Mathieu. We’re losing 5 seconds per kilometer. 5 seconds per kilometer. There are 4 left. He can go all the way. 4 times 5, 20. In any case, if he makes 30, it will really be in the long final straight. We had an exciting stage today between Chinon and Châteauroux. The little false flat. It hurts. The false flat that will hurt at 3.5 kilometers. But Mathieu Van der Poel is relaunching. He has resources, Mathieu Van der Poel. Why not a back-to-back for Jonathan Milan after his victory yesterday in Laval, do it again today. In any case, they will have been active in the pursuit, the Lidl Trekk. Dylan Groenewegen, perhaps, to go for victory today on the roads of the Tour. He already has six victories between 2017 and 2024 on the roads of the Tour de France. Mathieu Van der Poel still has a slim lead over the peloton. Six seconds to go with 1,500 meters to go. He doesn’t look back. We should tell him the gaps, but he should feel the peloton’s breath. Clément Venturini, it seems, is accelerating at the front of the peloton for Arnaud Demarre. Yes, there might be some smart guys who will try to break away in the final since there are teammates missing alongside the sprinters. What’s going on here? Powless. It’s Nelson Powless for the EF team. No, Albanese. Albanese! Groupama FDG is keeping an eye on things. We want to sprint. Yesterday, Paul Penhoët was unable to express himself, suffering from a puncture. In the final of the stage contested in Mayenne. Mathieu Van der Poel won’t have 10 seconds on the red flame. Yes, less than 10 seconds, about 5 seconds. And Mathieu Van der Poel, it’s cruel, is going to be caught now. At the start of the last 800 meters, Mathieu Van der Poel is caught. Terrible. Terrible, but unfortunately predictable, given the finale. Jonathan Milan is there… Watch out, with this wave coming from the right towards Jonathan Milan, the riders of the formation. Watch out, Tim Merlier, who is coming to reposition himself. We also have Danny Van Poppel present. Danny Van Poppel, Tim Merlier and Jonathan Milan in the second curtain, shouldering. The Italian, the European champion, is there. For now, the advantage still goes to Danny Van Poppel. Jonathan Milan will launch his sprint with all his might. Will Tim Merlier be able to come back? For now, he is behind the European champion and Jonathan Milan is trying to secure a second victory, but he is beaten on the line by Tim Merlier, the European champion, who comes to win here in Châteauroux. In any case, he raises his arms. Tim Merlier therefore wins in Châteauroux. Jonathan Milan had done everything right, but the European champion came back from nowhere. In front, the wearer of the Green Jersey. I think it’s Arnaud De Lie who comes to take the fine third place. After his fifth place in Laval. And Arnaud De Lie’s podium, indeed, who comes to take third place. Third victory for Tim Merlier in the Tour de France, the second this year. After his success in Dunkirk, he responded to the victory in Milan yesterday by winning here in Châteauroux.

Labron comes from a long n strong tradition of daddy issues, what do you expect from a GED scholar?

Pendant 170km … 😂😂😂
The peleton let him roasted well-done;they could have cuaght him earlier but decided to eliminate a tdf contender.
