  1. The chain tends to wear first, which in turn wears the crank ring and cassette.

    Depending on which chain checker you have, it may not actually be doing anything for you.

    Standard advice tends to be to replace the chain, ring, and cassette, which can be expensive. You could try just the ring for now and see what happens, but a new ring on a worn chain can create problems.

    I believe noise is what you;d see with a worn ring, not skipping like on a cassette

    Those x-sync 2 chainrings have a degree of shark tooth about them when new, designed to help retain the chain on single ring setups. Nothing to worry about yet.
