Hi, quick question: I bought a shimano wheelset. I want to use it with a tube. There is a blue plastic in the rim, do i need to add rim tape? Telling from the writing i would guess yes, but just want to make sure, kind of confusing, thank you 🙂

No you dont. Just put the tire and tube on. Just tubeless wont work.
You can use this with a tube as is, tape would only be required for a tubeless setup AFAIK.
The blue is the rim tape
That plastic is the rim strip. You’re good to go, install tube and tire.
Cool, thank you guys! Makes sense that „ready for tape“ probably stands for tubeless. The rims should be useable as tubeless (with additional tape in that case)
