I just wrapped up a 38-day bikepacking trip where I climbed all 58 peaks over 14,000 feet in Colorado, and biked between trailheads.

My rig was a Ritchey Ascent dropbar 29er, which flawlessly handled everything from rough 4×4 roads at 13k, to cruising miles of asphalt. I’m so impressed with this bike and how it performed on the trip.

The only mechanical I had in nearly 1500 miles was when I accidentally dropped the bike on the derailleur side on day 1, which is totally on me. Fortunately I was able to get this adjusted back.

Hope you enjoy the photos of a neo-retro adventure build, and happy to answer any questions about the setup/gear!

  1. Nice work, do you have a more detailed write up of the trip with route details?

  2. Dang you must be very acclimated to altitude (before and after)! Sounds like an amazing trip! Congratulations.

I live at 600ft ASL and am honestly stressing about our upcoming trip that will hover between 7000ft and 11000 ft. We have plenty of experience at altitude but it’s always something to take seriously.

Big respect! I loved bike packing around the Alpine loop climbing those 5, Wetterhorn might be my favorite 14er. Just gorgeous.
