Just wanted to share this ride with somebody.
A little less than 2 months ago I asked for opinion over a second hand bike, which was being sold near me. I ended up getting the bike, which I am really happy with (Cannondale Topstone 1, 2×11).
Since it's my first real bike (coming from BMX), it took a while to adjust and find a good painless position to ride in. I still don't think I have set it perfectly, but I feel like I'm currently at a good starting point. For sure there is room for improvement. Got new carbon aerobars with big flare yesterday, which I only put them to test today without tape even. Just to make sure hoods position is ok, since they're quite smaller than the previous ones. Got just a little wrist pain, so I'll have to tweak things a little more. Too bad there's no professional bike fitters in my country, at least none I have heard of. But I feel like I'm close, so I'll just test ride different set ups.
However my biking journey began with avaraging speeds of 25 km/h. I mainly commute to and from work with the bike which is mainly on poor pavement. When I started, I was a bit afraid of the heat this time of year (42 Deg Celsius during the day), still am to be honest, but it's really not that bad, not for short rides like that at least. Today was the 17th time in a row riding the bike to work (every workday I had since I bought it) and managed to push 30+ km/h average in both directions. This had been a huge barrier for me till now, and I'm proud of having gone over it. Will continue to push, but what I'm mostly amazed by is how much fun I am having while doing so! Never been the running/marathon and stuff like that guy, more like lazy gym builder, didn't like the sweat that much. But now I see the hype, love it!
Cheers from Bulgaria and happy riding to all!
