  1. First up no way that price is worth it for a very old bike. If the seller tries to say it’s ultegra so it’s good modern day claris is probably as fully featured.

    No idea what condition all the consumable parts are in but with buying a bike of that age there are many hidden costs. If the chain is worn it’s likely the whole drivetrain is which will cost a fortune. Tyres will need checking for cracks and rim wear (use a ruler if the rim is concave then they’re rather heavily worn).

    Finally there the stuff that’s not suitable for a new rider. Those gears will be incredibly difficult to get up a hill. If you look the cassette is tiny compared to a modern bike meaning it won’t have a very easy gear especially with the size of the chain rings.
