The storage area is in an open area between reception and the staff's office area. It seems like it's pretty safe but i suppose anyone could just walk off with a bike left unsecured. How would you lock it up here?

Best you can probably do is just put a U lock around the rear wheel and seat tube and hope that an employee stops somebody who is carrying out a bike that has a lock around its wheel
Hang it by the rear wheel, with a cable lock through the wall rack.
