Hi all,

My problem is that my front tyre is really wobbly (Maxxis 27.5). I had a look and turns out it’s not sitting straight in the rim as shown on the pics:

The rim is brand new, but the tyre is 5 years old.

I tried a soapy water trick several times, but didn’t help. However, I’ve read that after using a soapy water you have to pump the tyre up to 50-60 psi, which I couldn’t do because my pump would only go up to \~45 psi.

**TLDR**: wobbly tyre really annoys me when riding so I’d like to fix it. What are my options?

1) Buy a new tyre and save me some headache.

2) Get an air compressor (or a better pump) and repeat the soapy water magic, but pump the tyre to 50-60 psi to see it it pops in place.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

  1. Soapy water is actually a bad idea cause the soap will break down your tire sealant. If your tire is 5 years old, it’s outlived it’s useful life.

New tire, and skip the soapy water to seat it. You can always use a bit of sealant around the bead instead if really necessary.
