Went to login to Bikeguide today and realized that the site is down. Every time I click on something it just brings up the “please try again” message.

TL;DR- Bikeguide gone. I’m sad. HMU if you were there 🍻

For all the old guys here 🤝🏻
Idk how many of you were on there since most were on Pinkbike at the time, but BG was my home online as a teenager and young adult. I spent at least 5 years of my life posting daily and now 17+ years present on that forum. THOUSANDS of posts.
Finding the site down was shockingly a gut blow for me. I knew it wasn’t going to stick around forever but damnit man. It kinda felt like when you logged into your old MySpace for the last time and found most of the data gone or when Xbox shut down the 360 servers. But this left me feeling way more nostalgic and bummed.

Bikeguide.org helped shape me as a person. It gave me the motivation to push myself. To get out and ride even if it’s 100° out or there’s snow on the ground. The older guys humbled the shit out of me. The attitude there was basically “Don’t care, try harder”, and some of us punk kids really needed that.
My first times dealing with loss, were guys from the site that passed away. My first time interacting with people outside of the US was on BG. I still remember how cranky and irritable the Brits were, but I loved their clever insults and stole bits of dialogue for myself. I remember getting to talk to G. from G Sport everyday and being around for the development of the V1 Ratchet hub. I remember the daily debate on 36h vs 48h.
Hell, I even remember Tom from the UKs mint green build.

Any OG Bikeguide members on here?
Man I hope you’re living it up out there.
I’m in my 30s now and married to my best friend. I’m still out here riding. I have two amazing little girls that LOVE bmxing with their daddy and are turning into absolute shredders. I had the opportunity to use my bike to connect with my students when I taught Hs Auto Shop, and show them alternate path to life.
I still have the same “little kids bike” that I’ve slowly built up over the last 17 years with all the knowledge from the site. If it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Thank you for everything. Thank you for helping me become the man I am today. I hope I can meet more of you someday and we can have a geriatric sesh.

And to my boy Cisco, if you’re out there, love you dogg, hope you’re well. Thanks for introducing me to my favorite forum. If you ever see this, holla at me.

Love and miss all you assholes, stay young, keep rippin ❤️

I bought a ton of used stuff on there, commented a bit. Definitely a great spot to delve even more into BMX for the time. RIP
