I see people posting their first time cycling 50 miles and I’m jealous so I thought I would post my first 25 miles. I’m new to cycling (35 year old male) with a 2nd hand Schwinn Phocus from marketplace. I threw some clipless pedals on, a new saddle and have been attempting to fit the bike according to YouTube videos (I know I should go to a bike shop). I have done some quick 2 miles rides here and there but have been really wanting to actually cycle. I have 7 rides in the past 2 weeks that were 10 miles and then a 15 mile ride. My overall pace was gradually increasing every ride from 10.2 mph to 13.3 mph. Then I decided to really push myself and go for a 25 mile ride today. My pace was a bit slower and some of that was the last few miles were really getting to me. I have only been really riding for a few weeks now and haven’t even purchased bibs yet, which my undercarriage is screaming for and I need another water bottle cage since 1 water bottle is not doing it in the summer heat. But those will be purchased later today. After looking at some posts about 50 mile rides and their times I know I’m not setting any records or anything but I just wanted to share this small accomplishment and see if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations.

Congrats! Remember that 25 miles is longer than most people in the world ever ride!
