The higher end 700 line is harder to find, 750, 790 etc. Great bikes tho

It’s gorgeous! Personally, I love taking a quick flat bar bike like this and putting swept-back roadster style bars on it. Often it requires minimal other part swapping and can result in a very comfy bike that can also move when it’s time to go.
Yeah 790s are pretty rare. I see three or four 750s for every 790 in my hometown used bike market. Nice steel, higher end components, most people spending high end money on a trek back in the day went road or mountain. Hybrid/comfort bikes are generally sold at lower price points.
Lovely bike and great score. It appears to be on the smaller side… I’d put just new silver seat post, (saddle?), silver quill stem (the original Matrix one is ugly) and some townie bars…. and maybe pedals. Nothing fancy… it’s already a perfect bike as it is. It just calls for some more silver…
