Def not paying more for something so thin that makes it easier for people to see my horrible dad bod.
Make me an opaque jersey with magic fabric that keeps me cool, then we’ll talk.

Cycling is an activity that attracts people of all income levels. Including people who could drop $300 on a jersey like we would spend $12 on a sandwich for lunch

There are a lot of people who will drop a lot of cash on equipment for biking, skiing, golf. It’s like adult toys

I’d pay 300 for a jersey but not like this one. They’re high.

I’ve paid this much or more for a jersey in the past. It is fashion. Once this is sold out they probably won’t make more, so like anything in fashion, if you like the “look” and you can afford it, you can end up with a jersey that will stand out and that nobody else will be wearing.
I recommend everyone should live below their means. Do not go buying things you can’t afford.

They know their target audience and the suckers keep on falling for it. When you have disposable income and an unwavering desire to appear ”cool” to your peers this is what happens.

You can usually figure out ways to get discounts up to and exceeding 50% off on these. Also road cycling gravitates towards crazy income levels.

Of course, there’s a lot of people that will buy that.

Buying from a UK based company from the US? Have you checked the current tariffs and whether the prices already include import duties?

It’s not the price so much but how cheap / uninteresting it is. I feel you have to really love the design and fabric at that point, and this one looks very generic.

Rapha is quality gear, but other labels are quality too and can be bought for less.
I buy Assos, but never at full price. To find sale pricing on their website make the selection for men’s or women’s apparel and then view Past Seasons’ Styles.

People drop 15+k on a bicycle here. You think 3 Benjamin’s for a jersey is a sweat?

Cost of making something has nothing to do with pricing except as an absolute floor.
Having said that, I’ve paid $200 maybe $250 for a jersey that I thought looked really cool, so another fiddy bucks if it has some technical advantage or qol improvement isn’t that hard a push.

I’m not a Rapha hater and like a lot of their stuff but it’s clear they are going after the PeNiS / Maap market – this design is beyond ugly tho

$300 jerseys and $15,000 bikes are generally smaller purchases to those who buy them than $60 jerseys and $2000 bikes are to their market base.
