I want to buy an Aeroad CF SLX aerodrop but I need to choose the right size.

I do triathlons and have a time trial bike. I'd like a road bike that's more comfortable for long rides, but still a bit sporty.

With a height of 172cm and an inseam height of 81.5cm, I'm perfectly between XS & S. Canyon customer service doesn't really have an opinion on which size I should take.

Does anyone have any feedback on the ideal size to choose?

Thank you!

My initial thought given you want more comfort would be to size up for the extra stack height. The reach is a bit longer on the small and the pace bars have 10mm longer reach than a regular bar but that’s just just what you get with the pace bars.

This is a Hard one!!! I have almost the same measurements. 172/80 and I got XS on my Endurace CF SLX. It fits perfect! But you have to keep in mind that the Aeroad has a slightly more aggressive geometry. In combination with the aero drops, XS will bei super aggressive with your measurements. S will be a little more comfortable, because of less high difference between cockpit and saddle.
But in my opinion an Aeroad is meant to be ridden aggressive, so go with XS! Your back will get used to it 😀

  3. I’m 171/80 and I went with S on the ultimate because XS my knees were hitting the cockpit on steep uphills. But the aeroad’s reach is longer. Do you have a bike you could compare geometry with? If you don’t, and you know you can hold an aggressive position, I’d go for XS. You can always return the bike.
