After Tour de France 2025 Stage 15 in Carcassonne, Quinn Simmons didn’t hold back. The American rider expressed clear frustration about being tasked to work for teammate Jonathan Milan instead of getting a full shot at his own chances.

Simmons said “nothing else matters” except winning and said there’s a difference of opinion in team tactics at Lidl-Trek after falling short yet again.

In this post-stage interview, Simmons opens up about what went wrong, what he really wanted and whether things might change in the final week of the Tour. #TDF

Quinn, uh you look to be the strongest out there, but we know the strongest doesn’t always win. Uh if anything, what went wrong for you out there? Um I mean, it’s the third time this week that I think the uh the moto drivers have played a little part in the the victory here. It’s uh yeah, it’s unfortunate, but we know we know this is the game of the tour. And then I Yeah, luckily if you’re the one that that gets away, you get this advantage and there’s no chance for the group behind and rolling all the way back. You were on double duty today. You were there chasing to bring back that pull group didn’t happen before the intermediate sprint and then I guess you were given uh free reign. You were let out of the cage, the tiger out of the cage to go on the attack. Yeah, like I told you this morning, we uh had a few differences of opinion on what was going to happen in the stage. And yeah, unfortunately I had to spend a bit of energy controlling in the start for something that probably was never going to happen. But hey, you have to do what the radio tells you. Store then Wellens, those guys were giving you a hard time. Uh how were you picking the right moment to attack? Cuz we saw you go on the attack at 15 at 5K to go. Yeah, I think the whole day it was it was a bit strange everyone’s tactics. We had such strong groups, but we were never really working well together. And then yeah, I mean when a guy like Wellins goes, we all need to commit. Unfortunately, we had Campen Arts just sitting there muttering something about uh Van Hart the whole time and no one else really committed when there’s one guy who’s playing a bit of games. So yeah, that’s how it is. Quinn, we’ve gone through two tough weeks. How are you? I mean, you’re going to be on the attack again after the rest day on the Von two now. I mean, the initially, yeah, when we had Skellyy here, I would uh go with him and Devon for the mounds points, but um yeah, now it’s a bit more of a rest day for me. And yeah, there’s still two maybe three opportunities in the third week, so hopefully the legs stay okay. Yeah, some great A Cat 5 tactics today, I think. But, um yeah, I mean, it’s how it is. Wellins did a super strong ride and you know in the end I think there was only one situation for today and that it was be super hard and a really strong rider get away in the final and you know that’s what happened. There there was a moment uh where it seemed like you went back and uh talked to Wellins um and then uh that was shortly after it seemed like that’s when he went. Was that Did we read that right? Yeah. Um, yeah, it’s uh a bit strange the tactic to not pull and then to attack, but hey, it worked for him today. So, super strong ride from him and you know, he took the took the lucky moment and made it count. And it turned out Store ended up with the uh most aggressive uh thoughts on that. I mean, you’ve been out there it seems every day, but not a jersey yet. I mean, I’m not here for the most aggressive of the day. I’m here to win a stage. There’s only one most aggressive that counts and that’s the one in Paris. But we don’t think about that. We’re here for the stage.

  1. Quinn – you couldn't hold his wheel or jump back on, stop whining. That's racing – your day will come – give credit where it's due.

  2. I don't understand his frustration, if wellens used the moto to pull away it wasn't shown on tv, even if that is true wellens was still 7 seconds ahead. It was on descent that he increased the time upto 1'50. Tim wellens is one of the best at descents

  3. "we know it's the game of the tour" ok then, you know what to do, do it!. built a massive amount of goodwill that can be eroded with whining. don't be like Matteo.

  4. Not impressed at all by this "it's owed to me" attitude. I am not sure he knows what it takes to win a stage… Stop blaming others for your losses, use your brain…question yourself when it fails. He repeats the same tactics over and over… With comments like these, no surprise if no one likes him.

  5. Now you no why nobody likes this “wild and crazy” guy. If everybody knows that’s the game you play at the tour, why wasn’t he ready for it? The bottom line QS attracts and can’t drop anybody. FACTS!!!!

  6. QS has to be smarter, and he will…Even times he was off tk the side riding with the leaders like it was a group ride…No need to flex……Wellens dod basic tactics that QS cant question…..Trust no one…..Even VC hung off the back a few times and well, we see where he ended up….Same tactics as Wellens

  7. Came here expecting knuckle heads agreeing with Quinn. So glad y’all know your racing. Well done comments section !!! Maybe he was referring to himself with cat 5 tactics ?? 😂

  8. Dang, I really like him, love his riding style. Dude, you are getting paid to ride a bike. Go ride, have fun, enjoy your opportunity and learn to deal with the Pro Tour Politics.

  9. Interesting to scroll down and see what type of comments @Flobikes likes… It's pretty much all propping up Quinn for his toughness and "speaking truth". I guess they feel he will make 'merican cycling great again and had zero blame in not winning that stage.

  10. He should learn a thing or two from MVDP and Wout as 90% of the time nobody helps them when they go in the breakaway and they still dont complain about others and just say they were not strong enough…Captain cry me a river

  11. If 1 man attacks, 6 others all from different teams should work together to catch him so you can keep up….??? GTFO. You're a pro, dude. Act like one.
