At the start of my tour I was really indecisive which tires to use on my gravel bike. I had done a tour with WTB Riddler (90% paved) and by 1700km they were done.

I upgraded to Specialized Pathfinder 35 (70% paved) and this is the condition after 3500km. The front tires still has the middle line from when they were new (pic 1). I assume I could still pull off around 2000 more km. They were quite an investment at around 100€ for the pair. Very good rolling resistance, good grip on gravel and only 1 puncture over 35 days. Super happy with them and would recommend them 100%.

My current set up is a Fuji 1.3 Sportif with rear panniers weighing a total of 110kg fully loaded.

Any other tires worth a shout out?

  1. Quite good, considering the rear panniers which make the rear tyre wear way faster. Just swap them front to back and there is 2000km still left for sure.

Im about to try the hutchinson caracal allroad which is also 35mm and should be real fast as well

  2. I run the pathfinder 38c I love them but I’m so sad they are discontinuing this size 😢
I also never get punctures and the just hold up really well 👌

  3. Yes, durability is amazing, which such soft compound. Mine after 4000 km only worn out half way.

But puncture protection was non existent on my trip. I had a puncture every 1000km or even less. Thorns would always cause puncture.

    Vittoria Terreno Zero TLR G2.0

I’ve been on one set of these on and off for the past 3 years on my gravel/adventure machine, mostly on potholed tarmac or light-medium gravel, taken a few sections of proper ruffstuff and they’re still going strong.

What they might lack in speed in all out sprint efforts, they make up for in fun-having-capabilities reasonably assured they’re not going to go pop.

(I have always ran them with a tube fwiw)
    Massive recommendation from me

  5. Endless edge design death 💀 on loose off road. Not for serious off road. Zero braking. Great on road solid pack.
