I had done a poll on this when the price of the outlet model was higher – the opinion was mixed.
**The CF SLX 9’s price has dropped further ($6200 with 10% off) AND they are new, not returned, bikes. However, they can not be returned. The new version CF SLX 8 is $5400 and can be returned.**
**I do have a Specialized Diverge for gravel and commuting, so I am thinking that last year’s version is a little more road than all road?**

Where are you seeing the 10% off?? That’s a good price. Get the 9!
Yes it’s more of a racey road bike with less clearance than the new version. I don’t think I would be comfortable putting anymore than 32mm up front.
I have the slx 9 and it’s awesome (and close to 3000 off at this point), unless you really want the new updates (top tube storage, etc) go with the 9
Get the SLX9, it is more of a CFR than CF SLX, lighter frame, sram red, dicut 1100 wheels, much much better bike for money compared to SLX.
