1.5k is a pretty decent price for those components and merida are known for decent carbon, they do the layups for specialized’s high end stuff so it’s not gonna be a dog of a bike (I would think). That groupset is absolutely mint. To be honest less than about 4k I wouldn’t bother going to di2 over other upgrades. I would recommend swapping to some nicer tires if you do get it but otherwise go ahead.
One aside: in case you were unaware, this bike has an endurance geometry, so if your goal is to get fast and smash around on chaingang group rides or try some racing, it’s not quite what you want. It’s deffo not good bang for buck if you care predominantly about speed, but otherwise it looks like a lot of bike for the money.

Nop, great groepset for the price, good sturdy frame: Merida makes bikes for a big part of the industry so while it may look quite average the build quality will be decent.
