Im currently riding two Bmx bikes.
- DK; TT 20in; wheels 20s; handle bars 8in (I think)
- Haro Downtown 24; TT 21.65; wheels 24s; handle bars 7in
I like my haro due to the length of the bike but I don’t like how heavy it feels on me.
I like my DK due to how lightweight it is but it’s too small, I feel restricted when trying to do tricks.
Question: will it be cheaper to downsize my haro wheels and upgrade the handlebars or just buy a whole bike?

Split the difference and get a 22″.
20inch wheels 21.25-21.5 top tube, taller bars and topload stem is the answer.
No need for big wheel bikes, you can tailor a 20inch to suit your needs.
Look at David Grant or Mike Hoder, they’re both 6’5.
try top load and taller handlebars.
Get some taller bars, goddamn man. 10’s or 11s.
That’s awesome that you’ve built an app to automate HARO! As for BMX, you might wanna look for a BMX with a 21″ top tube or even a 22″ frame to get a bit more room. It could make your rides way more comfortable at your height.
A 22” wheel bike is your answer. Moves more like a 20” but more comfortable.
I have a 21inch top tube with 20inch wheels, top load stem and 11inch bars. I’m 6’4″ and I really like this setup.
Don’t get a 22inch dude. Thats the generic answer.
Tall doesn’t always mean buy a bigger bike. Many people go grab a 22inch and find out that they cant find any aftermarket parts for it. lol
Stick with your 20.. get taller bars and get a frame with a 21inch TT. You’ll be SET!!
Don’t just trust reddit
Can’t downsize the haro. Completely different animal. Could technically up size the dk with frame and bars, but it might not make sense money wise. What model is that? 20tt is pretty rare nowadays. Are you measuring center of seat tube to center of head tube?
21 top tube 20 wheels, is what would fit you. 21.25tt if you’re riding strictly trails
22s are for absolute giants, like 6’7
If you run into someone riding a bigger bike at the skatepark ask if you can ride it around.
I’ve been on a 21.25 TT bike w/ a top load stem and 9” rise bars for years at 5’8” and I think it feels dialed and comfy (mostly ride trails and ramps). I’d be looking at something with a 21.5” TT at your height, a 20” has to feels insanely small haha.
As said, I would troll around marketplace, lots of good deals to be had.
At 6.2 get yourself a 22 inch frame and ride 20 inch wheels you don’t want to move off of 20inch wheels and I highly recommend trying to get a frame that still has a shorter rear end of 13-13.5 based on your riding style
Going for a top tune that was suited to the height I am was probably one of the best things that i’ve changed , feels hell more comfortable just get a 22tt dude
Getting a bigger frame for your 20″ BMX would work, with taller bars.
Someday you might end up moving to a 26″ DJ bike like the Fairdale Hareraiser or a Haro Steel Reserve, both of which are available with rigid forks instead of suspension. But first look into bigger 20″ stuff, because the bigger bikes have a learning curve.
I’m 6’3 180 and I have a 20 inch Mongoose Supergoose and FS1. I have absolutely no issues. Just gotta adjust right and get a layback seat post
Weld them together, double decker bmx!
