  1. Yes, it’s fine. 8-11 MTB is the same freehub body. Only after 11 spd road it changed.

    This is an older HG freehub body, often called HG10. It is meant to work with 8, 9, and 10 speed cassettes, as well as *some* 11 speed MTB and gravel cassettes. It should measure 35mm.

    What you have with this cassette, is a cassette made for the HG11 freehub body, that will measure at 36.85. That is the problem here.

    Now, will this cassette work? Well, yeah, *if* you can get the locking to thread on. But, be careful, you’ll not be engaging much of those threads, and you could strip the lock ring, or worse, FH body. A good solution here is a special lock ring made by Presta Cycles meant to solve this exact problem you are having. It is a deeper lock ring.

    I run a setup where the top sprocket is quite high, I use a Sunrace lockring which is a bit longer so less chance of the threads stripping.

    If the smallest gear fits and is in the notches of the hub, you shouldn’t have an issue.
