Hi all! I’m begginer cyclist, I currently own one Siroko and one Van Rysel jersey, bib shorts from Siroko also.

I’m wondering to upgrade my clothes a bit because it’s summer and those clothes I have from Siroko are black. I found brand called Le Col. They have really good reviews, but as I’m begginer I’m not sure if it’s really good, or if I should look for other brands.

I was also looking on some Castelli jerseys, but the price are really hight. I like also the Maap, and PNS, but it looks to me that it’s just about the brand more, and for this price I can have some more clothes from another brand.

I can have the Le Col jersey and bibs for a good price tho, I really like what I found, I just need some opinion from more advanced cyclist, if this brand is really comfortable. My rides are usually around 40-50km, some of them are also about 80km. I have only Siroko Brabant bibs, they are really comfortable for longer rides, so I’m wondering if these Le Col also be.

Thanks to all!

Also, if some of you have these, are the sizes good? I’m 160cm and 50kg, from Siroko I have XS, so I’m wondering if choose XS or S from Le Col.

  2. No experience with the brand itself. But if you have no issues with your current bibs, save yourself the money and buy what you want. If the moment comes when you, for example, train for more hours and you start having trouble down below maybe look at more expensive bibshorts. Just don’t change a winning team.

Getting into cycling is expensive enough as it is without a €250 bibshort.

  3. I have one pair of le col bibs and I can’t wear them on rides longer than an hour tbh.

Seems from Facebook / Reddit people have a really good opinion of them, and my friend borrowed them off me for a ride once and found them really comfy. Might just be me.

Most my other bibs are van rysel and I find them much comfier

  4. I have a couple of their bibs which I got heavily discounted in the sale plus a £50 discount coupon, otherwise I do feel they are overpriced. I have worn them on 3h+ long rides and they are very comfortable. The fabric feels nice but maybe a little thin. The jersey I got from them developped a hole in the of the under arm seams after the first time I wore it out but when I got in touch with their customer service they replaced it immediately.

  5. Imo Le Col is one of those brands which (kinda scummily) intentionally overprice their goods in the knowledge that people will get the easily attainable Strava discounts & feel like they’re getting a great deal. My Le Col jersey is okay but I wouldn’t pay full retail for it.

Bib-wise I don’t know what your price range is but Assos Mille GT is essentially hailed as the gold standard for price performance when it comes to long rides. The more expensive GTS bibs are pretty “end game” imo.

Jersey-wise many people think it doesn’t matter & to just get something you think looks good. Personally I like Assos but they’re expensive & minimalist. There may be an element of “paying for the brand” with Maap but I’ve heard good things about their quality, they’re generally very well regarded when it comes to combining quality & aesthetics.

Lowkey surprised the Siroko bibs are comfortable though, I always assumed it was pretty astroturfed brand where the quality wouldn’t match up to that claimed by the influencers pushing it.

Actually looks good. I know Strava was pushing them when they first came out.

Le Col is Le Mid. Overpriced. I bought a kit and returned it, was unimpressed.

If you want great value- try theblackbibs or neopro bibs

  8. So far nothing to complain about. But also nothing special.

Never buy at full retail price. Get either discount vouchers or subscribe to their newsletter and buy from one of their many sales events.

That last part works for every cycling clothes brand. Better to buy this stuff on sale.

The cycling world is odd as some swear by one brand that someone else hates. I like Le col but they are best to buy on sale. Discounts are easy to get.

I have used many higher priced brands ie Assos but I end up with Le Col. they last where as my Castelli and Assos brands just don’t maintain the chamois on the bibs. Jerseys to me last forever so just buy what you like.
