If you only have one free day in Budapest and you would like to do something different, this bike ride might be the perfect plan for you! Hey, my name is Petra, I’m a Hungarian living in Budapest and on one weekend, we decided to bike all the way to Szentendre. It was a beautiful and pretty chill bike ride with one of Hungary’s most charming town waiting for us at the end. Let’s see how it went! Good morning everyone! Today we’re going to go on a very adventurous trip again. We are going to bike to Szentendre and for that… we rented two bikes yesterday. It looks quite weird in the middle of the flat. And uh.. here’s my partner in crime. In crime. *laughs* What? They gave us nice helmets For free! For free. Yeah. Beautiful. And they gave also lockers. We got the phone holder right here. And it was 10.000 HUF per bike for 24 hours! So I don’t think that’s bad. That’s all. Let’s start the trip. [Music] Wassup? Heat. Heat. I think we almost did already the half of the route. Probably. How do you feel? I mean, we didn’t cycle that much. *Huh? sound* What a loser. *hehe* According to the map, it’s just the third. Okay. Oh my God! Of course, a caaaarrrr. Oh, hi. This is the free public beach, right? I don’t know why I asked like right, because I know. 8.5 km left. Let’s go. By the way, if biking isn’t your thing, Szentendre is also pretty easy to reach by the suburban railway line, the HÉV in Hungarian that runs from Budapest and takes you to Szentendre in about 40 minutes. So nice. It’s not the Megyeri Bridge. Maybe? It was in fact the Megyeri Bridge. 7.5. Let’s go! So nice, so green. 6 kilometer. Only six. Let’s go! Is this where we supposed to go? I don’t think so. Is it adventurous? Absolutely. This is definitely not where we supposed to go. Turn back. Turn back. Turn back. Let’s try another route. Not there. Maybe there. Fingers crossed. Adventure time. Now the map also agrees that we have to go here. There was another..! That was adventurous. Yeah. I’m sorry. When we go back, I will know where to go. Four kilometers left! Here we are. High five! We are right now searching for a picnic spot, cuz I brought some picnic blankets and right now I don’t see where we can have a picnic. This is yours. Thank you. And this is mine. The bike ride was 1 hour and 40 minutes, but we could have biked faster, but we didn’t. So, it was nice. Like, why should we rush? If you’re just going in a comfortable tempo, then it’s like 1 hour and 40 minute-ish something. Also, one thing I forgot to say is that we found many fountains along the way where you can fill up your water bottle, so, Count like that. So, I win. Please. Please? I want to win? You have 15 points from the tempuras. It’s 21-20, but there are still many rounds left. I won and I’m sad, cuz someone is grumpy. I’m grumpy, because she doesn’t understand the rules! Hey, that’s rude. The rules are basically 2 + 2 is four and she doesn’t get it. Now we will slowly pack our stuff and go into the city, walk a little around and find a place where we can buy some ice cream And coffee. And maybe coffee. Not both. Both? Yeah, maybe both. Szentendre is a super popular day trip from Budapest and for a good reason. It’s colorful, full of little galleries and cafés, and it’s just pretty to walk around on the cobblestone streets. It can get a little bit crowded, especially on weekends, but it still has a relaxed and artsy vibe that makes it worth the visit. [Music] Oh my god. It’s really good! Now we’re just going to relax a little next to the Danube and after that we’re going to stop on the border, outer parts of Szentendre. Yeah, because there is a stop especially for bikers and there we can fill our water bottles and yeah that’s just the plan and after that we just head back to Budapest. Nice. Those people there are just crazy. I guess it’s kind of 35° (celsius) and the UV is just hellish. It’s the skin cancer special. Yeah, so people are just sitting there… It’s just absolutely terrible. I think. Now we have water. Water! Let’s go! We’re this lucky! Come on! Only cloud today. So, that was where we came from last time. And now we’re going to turn right. as Oh my god, it’s so sunny. And here is the Lupa Beach. Oh my god! That’s so pretty! Woaaah! I’ve never been there, but it’s pretty! 3 kilometers. Well, to reach the border of Budapest, we’re going to bike a lot more, so. Oh my God. Right now, this is just hell. So nice. So cold. You’re crazy. What a loser. *hehe* Thaaaaank youuuuu. Bruh.. paid actor. Should we go back? Yeah. Let’s make the last part, guys. This is where we started, but we’re going forward until the Chain Bridge. [Music] This is now just *pfff*. So, that was our bike ride to Szentendre. Easy to do, full of beautiful views, and a perfect break from Budapest. I hope this gave you some inspiration for your next adventure in Hungary. Subscribe for more adventures around Hungary and Budapest, and see you in the next one. Bye! [Music] Thank you!
