Welcome to UK Explored, in this video I’m going to show you what I saw and experienced inside 5 of the most deprived, dangerous – and ultimately worst areas to live in the city of Coventry.
I decided on the areas for a combination of local knowledge, published police and crime stats, deprivation reports from the council, and census data.
I went to Bell Green, Hillfields, Henley Green, Willenhall, and Foleshill.
What I found was pretty shocking to be honest, Coventry doesn’t have the worst reputation, but these areas or among the worst in the country.
I hope you enjoyed the video, if you have any suggestions for other cities I should explore in a similar fashion please leave a comment below, thanks!

welcome to UK explored in this video I’m going to show you what I saw and experienced inside five of the most deprived dangerous and ultimately worst areas to live in the city of centry my first stop was an area called Bell green this area is located Northeast of the city center it’s one of the most income deprived areas in centry and also has the six highest crime rate I’ll State the obvious straight off the bat as you can see for yourself in the footage the housing situation in a lot of bells green is dire it’s clearly run down and it needed some work there’s litter [Music] everywhere I saw loads of people drinking tins on the street at 10: in the morning and it’s one of the most depressing housing complexes I’ve been to to be honest in fact some of the flats look so bad I assumed they were derit and I did find reports that some of it was going to be demolished to couple years back but I asked a couple of locals and they said that there are some people living in there and I also saw movement Through the Windows and I saw people on the balconies so I’m not sure if they should be there or not but people are definitely living here the whole area has an unusual layout I’ll give it that you have this huge highrise in the middle which is called dewis house and it’s built back in the 60s this is then surrounded by shops or at least what used to be shops as most of it is now closed down of course there are book he’s operating and there are loots of flats and affordable housing units in this square and the surrounding area and then it kind of ripples out to more flats and affordable housing in the surrounding [Music] area I can imagine this complex was once pretty nice when it’s first built and I’m sure the idea behind it was to have a community that had everything they needed but these sort of projects often go south walking around it today honestly it feels more like a prison complex than a welcome in the state and I guess in part that’s because it’s due to be demolished or renovated but it is what it is the little problem across centry in general was crazy you’re going to see a lot of that in this video and B Green was no exception there was loads of discarded drink and drug paraphernalia much of which had clearly been on the floor for months if not years I could have EAS easily put together an hourong Montage of all the flow tipping and litter I had to walk through and of course there’s no shortage of shocking local and National headlines coming out of B Green thefts are pretty common as you’d expect some serious assaults happen on this estate going all the way up to shootings and even murder I think the Wikipedia page sums it at well it says that B Green has high levels of Social and economic deprivation as significant problems with crime and antisocial Behavior so yeah it’s a no-brainer that B Green is one of the worst areas to live in centry with all of that in mind for the privilege of living in B Green according to right move the average house price over the last year was whopping 181,000 the next area I went to is hillfields which is located just outside of the city center hillfields has a crime rate of 146 which is around twice the UK average bridge and makes it the fifth most dangerous area in centry that’s a pretty high crime rate but it’s the poverty that’s hitting hillfields hard along with some other areas in centry hillfields is among the top 5% of the most deprived areas across the whole of England which is pretty shocking it’s also no coincidence that there are these three huge high-rise to blocks in the area now I’ve received a lot of flack before in the channel for saying that high-rise accommodation means more crime but it’s just fact there have been endless social studies across several decades that you can look at yourself that prove that there are always higher crime rates levels of antisocial behavior and other social issues within high-rise buildings tower blocks and flats it’s just not up for debate anyway according to centry city council hillfields has a population of around 13,400 and it’s clearly a very diverse area but predominantly it’s Asian occupied I was surprised to see this free car park while looking for some at to park but not only couldn’t I find a space B it’s been used as a flight hi spot and somewhere to dump cars just look at all of this junk here it’s it’s insane this is a functional car park [Music] apparently the litter and fly tipping didn’t stop there of course much like B Green it feels like the residents of hillfields don’t know what a bin is for such a small area there are some wild headlines coming out of hillfields as well like huge cannabis Groves and other class A drugs bus arson inside the high-rise tower blocks which is pretty scary if you live there people swinging machetes around fatal Drive buys kids taking knives into schools it just goes on and on on paper hillfields is an obvious choice for this list of the worst areas to live in centry but I will add that this is also backed up from people who live in or know centry whenever this question is asked online hillfields along with the other areas on this list just kept popping up and having spent some time there myself I have to agree according to right move the average house price across hillfields over the last year it’s in the 170,000 range the next area is Henley green which is located a fairway east of the city center all of the areas on this list are classified as deprived but Henley green is the most deprived rived area in centry and in 2019 it was listed as the 94th most deprived area across the whole of England that’s not a stat to be proud of and it brings up the broader question of why there are so many super deprived areas in the UK now but back on topic for a little history lesson according to Wikipedia the bulk of henle green was built in the ‘ 50s quickly and cheaply to help house the influx of workers mov into centry to be part of some booming Industries at the time Industries have long past like car manufacturing you can see from this Drone footage here that the housing layout is quite interesting it’s very different from the usual parallel Red Brick Housing we used to it looks a bit like a mobile holiday housing Camp really doesn’t it I couldn’t find demographic data just for Henley green but the ward covering Henley and the surrounding areas is listed as predominantly white there is yet another ugly highrise Tower Block in the area and to be honest centry has quite a lot of these for the size of the city and why do so many people in high-rise buildings have to F their dirty baby nappies out of the window it’s so gross I’ve seen it a number of places I’ve been to particularly wber Hampton and West Brom come to mind the layout of this estate is like a maze to walk around it’s kind of annoying to be [Music] honest it was pretty untidy as I guess you’d expect but not as bad as the other are as I went through in comry even this cat looks like he’s feeling the cost of living pinch doesn’t he I couldn’t find Crim stat data isolated to just Henley green but Henley and the surrounding areas have all the same serious criminal activity as the other areas on this list murders and shootings have taken place I mean that shooting there was Gang Related and I like the quote from the Chief Inspector there discharging a firearm imp public is totally unacceptable duh there was definitely a strong whiff of weed near a couple of houses when I was walking around so cannabis bursts isn’t a huge surprise to me but the scale of some of these drug bursts is pretty alarming anywh who house prices in com in general seem to be a bit steep if you ask me and according to right move the average house price over the last year in Hy green he in the 192,000 range next we have Willen Hall which is a suburb located to the far south of centry now willor started out as its own small village but at some point it was absorbed in into the city of centry and became one of its suburbs it has a lot of green areas around it which should be a nice thing but as you will see the fly tippers have been dumping like crazy around the area so the Woodland is more like a tip than some sort of idilic escape the reason will and Hall is on this list is because it holds the title for being the highest crime rate area in centry outside of the city center a lot of the crimes are pretty serious as well so it’s fair to call Willen hore the most dangerous area to live in centry which obviously makes it one of the worst areas to live unless you like living on the edge of course the demographic data we have available shows us that it’s a white occupied area for the most part and it’s also in the top five most income deprived areas as you can see from me just walking around the area is a state honestly I don’t like being so blunt but I saw more fridge freezer units on the street then Curry’s carrying stock it smelled awful everywhere the communal bins were often overflow or people had just dumped their rubbish near them there were more nappies thrown out of Windows and I Heard lots of arguments and shouting coming from all over the estate when I was walking around I actually think I heard some guys having a fight at one point in the back Garden I passed there’s a load of Noise online as well on social media and forums backing all of this up but I know some people from the area will come and comment on the video and say it’s not that bad that always happens but there are endless news reports about fatal stabbings and shootings this is actually one of the road right here where someone was shot and killed recently drugs are prevalent in the area there are gangs battling it out and torturing each other the stats don’t lie anyway back out on the beat you’ll get a feel for the area it’s mostly blocks of social housing Flats built in these sort of compounds I love how everywhere there is a sign saying not to fight tip there are literally piles of fight tip junk of course like all good struggling neighborhoods you have a bookies and just look at that structure there it’s beautiful anyway according to right move the average house price across willing Hall over the last year was in the 177,000 range my last stop while in centry was F Hill a suburb just north of the city center has a mix of residential and Commercial areas and a pretty busy shopping district so demographically F Hill has the highest population of Asian residents of any area across centry about 45% of residents are Asian and this area struggles with crime more so than it just poverty both the East and West size of fil are listed in the top five most crime areas in centry but the pattern here is the same as throughout most of the worst areas in centry there’s another highrise building that is the center of most of the antisocial issues problems flow out into the Greater Community and the amount of litter lining in the floor is just ridiculous this here is Stony stantom road which according to to locals online is one of the most notorious roads in centry for me it’s really symbolic of what’s Happening across the UK I think most cities have roads that look a lot like this one now right places that just aren’t safe after dark and they comprised mostly of small businesses from all around the world mostly takeaways and food stores just look at all this litter and junk dumped right here this is actually on the police station premises I mean that kind of says says it all really doesn’t it to be fair to the police maybe they’re too busy out dealing with all the criminal activity that’s going on in the area to pick up the litter the area clearly has a huge drug problem there are endless reports about drug bursts and Drug rated crimes there’s often tension in the community that results in serious assaults and even murder and the high-rise block which is called fonner House often has something going on but at least it’s literally next door to the police station so they don’t have to go very far buying up property in the area isn’t cheap according to right move the average house price across Bale over the last year was in 190,000 range well that just about wraps up my experience checking out the worst areas to live in cantry if you enjoyed this video please click on the one popping up on the screen right now cheers

Thanks for watching!
Was waiting for woodend to be number one! I worked in willenhall late eighties/ early nineties and loved it.
What a total dump!
Bell green shopping centre was booming back in the day it would be packed out
Grew up in Henley green its totally different now to back then and most people I grew up with have moved away
Need trump send in the secret service, let the common people live
I grew up on a bad council estate and owned a house on one until I was about 30. Now live in a sleepy middle class village. It's always amazed me attitudes towards looking after your stuff. On the estate it just seemed normal for people to just fly tip there rubbish everywhere and expect your neighbors to live in it. No one would dream of doing that where I live now.
No woodend or Radford?😂
I would have covered Henley green with Bell green tbh, they border each other and you would find it hard to separate, could include wood end in the same chunk. Would have allowed you to experience stoke aldermoor and tile hill that way.
Why do we pay taxes for if there’s no street cleaner what are the Council doing
We used to live in a maisonate on Binley road in the 50s
Council started charging to remove large items so people just dump them which you can’t blame them if it’s going to cost them £10-20 that they haven’t got.
My husband and I was only saying the other day that when we go through the deprived areas there’s always a betting shop.

As a person from Coventry this is not how it looks every but it is a bit of a mess😢
I'm surprised Wyken isn't on this list.
What is a terraced property?
The areas are deprived because the council throws all it's money on student accommodations in the city centre and neglects the residents in the surrounding areas.
" Hello there " ….A..hole. !
Stoney stanton police shop was empty last time I reported, or tried too report a crime.
Also lived in various parts of Coventry, Cheylesmore, Tile Hill, Canley, town Centre, etc etc they are all areas of solid , reliable communities and i would not live anywhere else
funny about nappy woz at coventry poly late 80's walking home had one land in front of me from a flat.woman walk out empty ash tray in road.didnt it attain city of culture😂.
woz their 2years lodged near football ground shit hole.
even lived in folshill
Oh yeah that one post-apocalyptic looking flat in the thumbnail lmaooo
Luckily lots of houses are being renovated (I think by the housing associations maybe) and modernised a bit
It must be the mass invasion of our country by immigrants. I don’t see the point of negative podcasts about cities in England. You could have done a positive one. I was born and grew up in Coventry city and there are many lovely areas. Look at the house prices on Right Move. They are high. Even average areas are not cheap to live in so it is very popular.
this is saad
Born in Coventry and raised in Rugby. I go over to Coventry every now and then and I'll admit it's not perfect and that I haven't been to alot of these areas but I will say Coventry is better than alot of other places in the country, Leicester being a good example.
Im Coventry born and breed aged 50 and this is a very fair overview
Wood end should be here as the worst
Declining country
They must not have just mentioned Woodend because It's the same as Bell Green & Henleygreen. Coventry is one boring place on earth good God.
Coventry is a depressing s***** . I should f**** now I live in it.
Willenhall actually got cleaned up in 2010, surprisingly just one gang and its moronic hangers on created all the present day problems operating from just one address where every single house is connected to avoid police raids and clearing up the area.
Shout out to the Indian property developers that bought my house for an eye watering amount when it had just been taken over by the fly tipping, drug dealing neanderthals. 😅
Sad. My great great grandfather was born either in Bedworth or Foleshill (depending on th record). But that was mid 19th Century.
At 6:08 i lived in the flat with the british flag it wasnt that rough i just saw TeeNL shoot some music vids
Coventry was great because people here produced products for the world, but now we only consume, not producing any more😢
Just look at the demographics of Coventry, interesting to to see the population change and how that matches up with the decline😂
Is Coventry still a place where if you are born there and stay there, u either end up a drunk, drug addict, prostitute, factory worker, Sainsbury's worker, call centre operative or an ex jail bird ?
"brings up the question on why there are super deprived areas in the uk", you're a dishonest degenerate I must say, i wouldnt be shocked if you've fallen down some sort of fascist pipeline, you think, 10+ years of austerity isnt gonna have this result. Give your head a wobble. This place was already left behind after the war, add that to the pipe what did you think was gonna happen???
We know the reason for the decline. MB
Mad to see my old flat in emily house FK THE HATE BIG UP CV2 ALWAYS
Big up bell green lol CV2 on the house 😂
Hillz 🎉
