Recently made a big upgrade to a new Canyon and am looking to sell my old bike. Does anyone have any info on it? Bought it from marketplace years ago and can’t remember what I paid for it. Believe it is from the 80’s
Hard to say, but probably not more than any other steel frame 80’s road/touring bike in your area. I’m assuming this is a Dawes Galaxy touring bike. As just a general, older steel-frame touring bike, it is probably not worth more than $150 ($200 CAN?), unless it is in super-clean condition — and even then I would not think much more. There may be a special buyer who sees value in a Dawes Galaxy based on having owned one or its reputation as a good touring bike, but it won’t be many people, and they will likely have some specific things they are looking for in terms of condition and size. Modern touring bikes are also so much better that no rational person would buy this for the original intended purpose. Your likely buyer is someone looking for a hot-looking older steel bike at a good price. I doubt it would be worth your time/effort to try to find a special buyer for this bike. I’d price it in line with similar steel frame bikes in your area, and be done with it.

It does look like 80s or perhaps 70s, not newer.
The components are cheap. That style of crankset is a step down from square taper.
I don’t know if it’s a collectable brand. It’s in very good condition. But unless it’s collectable, bikes like this go for $60 – $80 typically.

Not much

Early 70’s probably. Cottered cranks had been abandoned by everyone before the end of the decade.
Looks like it was a basic entry level bike, with the stamped dropouts, the stamped thin brake calipers, the brake lever extensions, etc.
It was probably 150 new. But it looks to be in very good condition and well taken care of. Post it for 150 and see if you can get it 🙂

Zero, honestly.

Just donate it , I’m sure someone will take it and take care of it. With the bike market now , i wouldn’t pay more than 50$ for an outdated bike and is over 55 years old .
