Guys, whos better? Van de Poel or Pogacar? I understand Pogi is superior by a mile in TDF but MDVP is superior in every other single race and ciclocross…. so whos better?

Don’t flag this as a racing incident and try to be nice about the hard facts

(1) TP hit the ground twice earlier in the Spring races, and on both instances carrying too much speed into the corner. At Strada Bianca when Tom Pidcock was on his wheel and at Paris Roubaix with MvDP on his wheel. Those 2 crashes were his own mistakes, no one else involved

Today on Stage 11, TdF he had a rider from UNO-X Mobility cut right across in front of him in and the back wheel back touched his front wheel. TP COMES OFF and hits the roadside kerb on his left hip and elbow.
Bike change has come off and he remounts shortly after

The important thing here is that had it not been for the other rider cutting across the front of him he wouldn’t have gone down. You CANNOT compare his 2 mistakes, of his own doing, to this one.

2) up until Visma decided to attack with 200m left to the crest of the hill, the peloton were going coast in to the finish and everyone were resigned to tomorrow’s challenge to Hautacam.

But as has been mentioned soo many times, Visma want to annoy Tadej, to break him.
Their tactics at times have been questionable but today, blame lies at their door

They manufactured the situation by their antics and luckily TP didn’t sustain serious injuries that could’ve resulted in abandoning the race. (DNF would suit Visma and the goal in winning 2025 TdF)

Injury wise, What effect it will have on him overnight, it remains to be seen.
Hopefully tomorrow morning TP is still the rider he was before the crash happened today.

Why are all the cycling pundits now sitting on the fence ??
Visma having created/manufactured the problem that occurred.
No doubt many will put this down as a racing-incident.

NO !!! that’s not racing incident.
TP spring classics crashes were a racing incident, which is solely responsible for.

Don’t blame TP for the crash. He wouldn’t have if the situation hadn’t arose, plus it’s not TP who created the crash, it’s the UNO X Mobility rider cutting across in front of him and Visma, the manufacturer.

So which of the pundits that are making TdF shows, you tube clips, comments and the like, have the guts to call it as it is, don’t paint a pretty picture.

Anybody else think this Tour has had more wrecks than usual?

MvdP recently with two epic efforts not quite up to stage winning calibre. Gotta feel for the guy a bit.

As a little note to the video makers, it’s hard to know what actually happened time-wise – did Pogacar make it back? Did Healy stay in yellow? We don’t know from this video!

I'm sad to see Pogi on the deck, he's a great champ. But the road swept right and the break went up the right side of the road. It's expected for riders to jump to follow an attack. Is it possible that Tadej crashed because he was half wheeling the UnoX guy or didn't react to the shift quickly enough?

At about 1:40, that is a crazy corner to have in this race. The Peleton is supposed to round that without incident? Then around 2:20, the crowd shot from overhead is crazy, as the riders were trying to attack through a sea of fans.
