So, first of all, yes I do like carrying a lot of water with me (a bit more than 3l), so far I've had most of it mounted to the wishbone, but even thou it looks very slick, I have 2 problemes with it.
1)It makes it very hard to get on my bike without hitting one of them (especially since they are both 1l), and when I do hit them, it doesn't just fall to the ground but it bends the mount too.
2) it's too much weight too high and I'd like to lower as much heavy stuff as possible, even though I think the bike handle pretty well as it is.

So I'm thinking, would it be wise to mount them somewhere on my rear rack that so far is useless, I was just too lazy to remove it before going bikepacking.
Anybody ever tried that?
I've already tried mounting them to the seat stays but they get in the way of pedaling.

your bike reminds me of one of those chickens that’s entirely black, even throughout.

  2. you could bodge cage mounts on the rack with pipe clamps and trapsbut looks like your rack will take panniers? adding small panniers would be easiest.

As someone who regularly has to carry 10+ L on his bike I would say use 1.5 L Nalgene bottles and replace the fork mounts with widefoot Nalgene bottle cages (they are best deticated Nalgene cages I have found) or just strap the 1.5L to your fork mounted everything cage.

Additionally you can mount a cage underneath the down tube, which may be able to hold a 1 or 1.5 L Nalgene (on my rig it only fits a 1L).

Then two feed bags with 1L Nalgenes in them and you suddenly have 6 L!

2L platypus water bag in the trunk and another 2L in a running vest so you can compress and store those when you don’t need them. Brings you to 10L plus the bottle you already have inside the frame.

Store a couple full sugar Red Bulls and you’re golden.

I keep a 2l bladder in my frame bag along with a 28 oz water bottle I refill from the bladder. That’s about 3l
