Hi community – feeling pretty sure I’m going to buy this Bianchi for $550. My question is, of course, whether or not you think I’m getting absolutely screwed over, and second (separately) if you think it’s unwise to choose a bike with campagnolo components over shamino… I’m new to this world and all I ever hear is how I absolutely must choose a bike w a shimano groupset, but is that really true? Trying to make a good decision here and this is the one thing that’s nagging at me (other than the age… 2009) so I’m grateful for any additional opinion.

  1. The component group is good. A few things from the pictures: why is the only color the hoods? Is it a filter on the photos, or was the bike out in the sun bleaching the color out of everything, or just bad lighting? Specifically the Mavic logo on the wheels should be bright yellow. The photo of the front brake shows what looks like significant corrosion of the bolts. Vittoria was the OEM tires, are these original? They appear to be in decent condition. How old are they? The drivetrain looks nice. It’s a shame about those Celeste hoods, does the seller have the original campy hoods? The originals are much more expensive and higher quality. Ask why the ends of the crank arms are beat to hell, that is a very unusual place to get any scratches on a road bike. I’d guess from having it sitting with the front wheel removed and dragging it around like that. Check the bottoms of the fork dropouts as well. A slammed adjustable stem is certainly a choice.

The price is too high. Use all the stuff I said to lower it significantly.

Ten or eleven speed Campagnolo is absolutely the equal of Shimano, if not better.
Its only with the modern electronic shifting and 12 speed + stuff that Campag has lost its edge.
This is a full carbon Bianchi with a combo of FSA crankset and ten speed Campag Veloce (think same level as Shimano Tiagra).

Absolutely a cool bike – but try to get it down to 500$?
