Brooks B17 saddle, bought used. Inside, where the side parts bend to the rectangular plate, I see two lengthwise notches.
It looks like it wasn't made in a factory, rather DIY. What are the consequences?
Why was it done?
How will it affect the performance?
Will the saddle sag faster and become unusable?
Should I worry about it?
PS Did not notice them while inspecting. The saddle very comfy…

Hmm are you sure that’s B17? B17 don’t have that belt thing with rivets at the bottom.
edit: just googled, looks like that’s Swallow model. I have no experience with it. Check maybe it needs to be stretched a bit?
