I can only find companies that sell to institutions but I need something like this for a short stairway (five steps) at my house. Where can I buy one? Second hand is even better but not required.
If its just for you, you could build one yourself with three pieces of wood (or even two) and some screws, and probably some outdoor wood stain.

(Assuming you have no tools) Measure how long it needs to be. Go to local hardware store. Buy 3 2×4’s and some nails. Have hardware store cut 2/4’s to length. Take them home and hammer them together |_|. Take two scrap pieces and hammer them to the back, top and bottom stair level. Done.

If it’s only a couple stairs are you able to carry your bike? Mine is only like 25 lbs so I carry it up my apartment stairs every day.

I’ve seen these all over, and never found them useful at all to use

Try emailing them and ask if they can put you in touch with a distributor. A 3rd party company may be willing to sell to you directly.
But the DIY approach with some 2x4s is a cheap and easy option. And if you want it to look cleaner, look for the nicer lumber without the rounded edges. You’ll have a cleaner look.

Talk to your local hardware store about their selection of metal c channel.
Some 2″X1″ channel in aluminium (or aluminum if you prefer) with a bit of deck tape will do you. Bolt it top and bottom with some concrete screws (or fashion some brackets). It’s about £10/m in the UK (but obviously find a stockist wherever you are).

Depending on the length you need you could also look at a motorcycle load ramp. We use one for our cargo bikes that we got from harbor freight for $80ish.

literally just get a piece of wood and secure it to the stairs.

Just bolt a rain gutter to the stairs 😀

I bought this one from Saris and installed on our exterior basement stairs. Great quality and you can buy a 4′ and cut it as needed. This is for our 6 unit building.

Apologies for the dumb question, but if it’s just 5 steps, why not just carry the bike up? Is it that heavy?

Find a local welding shop and show them this picture.
