Day 13 and 14 of cycling from the UK to Australia were a real grind. We’re in Italy and the heat was brutal. The roads were long and the climbs just kept coming. We were wrecked mentally and physically. Whilst Rob was smashing out 100 miles a day, Chris stopped for some giant refreshments. I remember thirsty. Where’s this? Somewhere in the chaos, we found this vineyard. Kabotra. Took a little brever, wondered around, grabbed a bottle of wine and a tagler misto. Had a cheeky glass and saved the rest for dinner. That moment kind of saved the day. At the end of day 13, we stopped in a layby knowing that tomorrow is going to be a slob. Day 14 didn’t let up. Rob went full machine mode, smashed his 100 km PB in 32° heat. Chris was melting. He was flying. After the 2 days grind, we finally rolled into a campsite by the lake. We got a well earned shower which felt like gold after 2 days. And to close it out, Jimmy pulls out the ty red curry. Hot, spicy, and exactly what we needed. Cheers.
