I probably would have hit it with a much finer grit sanding prior to priming and painting.
Did you use an angle grinder to remove the paint?
Poorly.
I would have used Paint Stripper first

This post is super confusing.
Did you use a grinder on the frame or did the previous owner?
The way the post is written, it looks like you used the grinder on the frame. If that’s correct, you did bad.
If the photos here are just ‘before’ (the condition you received the frame) and ‘after,’ and the photos you added in the comments after are the in-process photos, then it looks like you did well on the clean up and primer, and badly on creating a post that explains you process.

Wouldn’t have ised a grinder. Stripper and a plastic scraper would have done a better job.
I’m not a painter myself. The guy I use says he uses an acid etch primer when painting aluminium.
Nice job, it was very rough and you brought out all the grinder gouges. I have to say, that picture before in the comments looks dead gorgeous.
