So I bought a pair of lock rings for disc brakes and it had fit my front hub, although it wouldn’t fit my rear hub. Is this bc of my rear hub having a wider diameter compared to my front?

Yes, clearly. Your rear hub needs an externally-splined lockring like the one you have currently installed.
