I have a Cannondale quick cx. I’ve been using it on green and blue trails. I don’t do jumps. Am I able to continue using this bike while I save up for a full suspension? I have great kinesthetic awareness and body positioning so safety for me doesn’t feel like a concern. I can menuver on tight turns with tree roots etc just fine and have upgraded to knobbier tires. My concern is more so breaking the bike. Thoughts?

  1. I’m surprised you haven’t broken any spokes yet too. I’d not do that though. You may void the warranty if you break the frame.

And you can get a hardtail for $850-1000. The ones that’s made to go downhill, not xc oriented. I ride a hardtail to do super tech stuff (that I can handle ), and it’s capable.

Do you like it? Does it do what you need it to do? Then that’s all that matters.

  3. It will be fine for pavement, bike patchs, crushed gravel and very easy singletracks/green trails but this is not a mountain bike.

Trails vary, around here blue trails are on the edge of what you should ride a cross bike on, I have no problem doing it but it would get me some funny looks from the local MTB crowd because it does border on pushing what is a reasonable use. Personally, I like riding a hardtail and you will get a decent one at a lower price point. My wife went from riding a cross bike as well and jumped to dual suspension, that bike now gets used by my daughter so the wife can ride her hardtail.
