Trying to buy a second hand carbon MTB Haibike greed 9.60 with pinion gearbox p1.18, but joint between carbon and the gearbox doesn't look that smooth
There's also something i hope superficial around cable routing on bottom tube, and few chips on the side of the top tube (probably from transport)
Should i be worried about these carbon "imperfections" or should i buy it?
Price is quite good, and gearbox works perfectly.

It might take a carbon expert to finally diagnose it, but a lot of that looks like cracks.
The one near the motor mounts is especially concerning.
Yea I wouldn’t touch that. That frame looks hammered.
The photo 3 cable routing holes look bad to me. Chipping with spreading cracks I’d be careful with that. Almost like an unqualified DIY drill job. Or maybe the frame got crushed in a bike stand and that was the first place to go crunch.
Not sure about the frame-gearbox joint it’s hard to see but different layers are rounded and reasonably smooth so might be by design.
Looks to me that carbon frame has been DIY drilled for the housing. Hard pass.
I couldn’t find any evidence that this version of this bike ever existed. That doesn’t mean that Haibike never made a pinion greed, but it certainly doesn’t seem good when you consider how bad the frame looks.
I’m thinking someone thought that they could retrofit a pinion gearbox on to this thing and failed miserably and is trying to pass off their project to some unsuspecting sap. The chain tensioners also don’t look like anything ive seen on other pinion bikes.
Ugh, that huge crack near next to the gearbox is super concerning. I wouldn’t buy it until carbon expert says its okay or at very least repairable.
Don’t look normal to me. If I was the one thinking of spending my own money on that bike my next steps would be bloody great big ones away from it.
Hard pass. The money you saved on the bike is going to be blown on dental work when that frame fails.
Cooked
You can in fact drill into a carbon. Often happens on custom paint jobs. However this frame is absolute toast 😂
That frame will break right there. Doesn’t even look remotely repairable.
Pass. Dont even consider buying.
Tbh I wouldn’t consider buying. Even small cracks in a carbon frame are never a good thing.
Bike-geometry is absolutely nuts. This bike is some weird retrofit-project and has never been sold this way. Avoid by all means.
For me, that’s a
#HARD PASS
Those cable/hose exit holes in the down tube tell you everything you need to know.
That bike (Haibike greed 9.60) was never built with a motor or gearbox.
That means this whole thing is a retrofit.
Considering the carbon has obviously been drilled and does not appear to be a clean job, I would not trust any of the other work.
The frame has been made weaker to put in a heavier drive system. It might last for years, or hours, but at some that frame will give way.
Bad box…
I would stay far away from this. I wouldn’t even start wondering if it’s good or not, just a straight pass.
I wouldn’t. Too much risk with cf. I think you’ll have better peace of mind waiting until a cleaner example comes available.
