Specialized is stock except tires maybe, size: "smaller frame for someone under 5'9" $150
Trek – 700c Rolf Compz with bladed spokes, new cables and housing, new chain and cassette, new 700×38 Kenda tires. Drop bars with Shimano bar-con shifters, Cane Creek brake levers and Specialized seat. Built out more gravelly. Also mentions OX tubing? Size 19 in $250
Looking to get something older and fun to play around on, gravel and some light midwest mountain biking as well as commuting around town. Currently on a Specialized Tricross 2010. I'm 5'6". Which bike?

ok a few things:
* The Hard Rock isn’t a ’96, It’s a ’94. The Trek 730 is not a 1994, it’s a 1996
* ’94 Hard Rock has a fairly heavy frame and fork, mostly high tensile steel apart from the seat tube, and a low end Tourney drivetrain, it was Specialized’s cheapest entry level mountain bike. Probably around $250 originally
* ’96 730 has a decent full cromoly frame and fork, midrange Alivio and Acera-X parts. 19″ frame is a little on the large side for you maybe? Around $500 originally. If you like the changes they made then that’s cool, I think it’s a fun looking build
Around here you can find better bikes than the Hard Rock at that same price point, idk about your area.
730
