Day 8 and 9 of bikepacking from Bonn, Germany to Bialystok in Poland.

[Music] Good morning. This is day eight. We stayed in the cutest little homeay, but absolutely no connection, no Wi-Fi, no nothing. So, we need to get the route on the machine. Will you go a little further? Yeah. And let me try again. The only road that leads to this little village or just a few houses is uh a big dirt road. [Music] We have decided that today we’re going to see an elk or a moose or whatever. that we’re going to stay on a route like this for the whole way and we will only ride through cities whenever we feel like getting a capuccino with half of it with oatmeal and get some fresh croissants that taste like they were made in France. [Music] [Music] I was quite happy that we are on gravel bikes today because the first 20k of the day for a lot of sandy stony forest roads and cobbles. Now, for the last 20-ish K, we’ve been on empty country roads. So, we’re making some progress. The first big city today is Pila after 60k, but we got a lovely breakfast at the homeay. Uh, so I think we’re well well fueled to get there. and then have a big break. Also, we’re planning 130 today, so we won’t get there late. [Music] [Music] [Music] yoga. This is [Music] and food, baby. [Music] We have around 35k to go. Anna uh has to take a train back tomorrow to be back in time in Berlin for one of her friends events. She’s probably only going to join me for the next 50k tomorrow and then I have 420 left to Casper. I might see if I can do that in two days. Yeah, I’m [Music] [Music] see that’s This is on the [Laughter] screen. [Music] [Music] Today uh Hannah’s last ADK uh to to she’s going to take the train back to Berlin. Stand like half. [Music] [Music] Oh, the side. [Music] Ah, fine. Stop monster [Music] on the last 20k. And actually the only time we had a a little bit of time pressure to catch Hannah’s train, we get a puncture. But it was a great show to see David change a tube in I would say 6 and 1/2 minutes including everything. We hopefully still have a little break. Yeah. At the train station before Hannah goes back to Berlin and I keep on going towards Yalisto. [Music] [Music] No target zips. Fes over Mley River. [Music] Yeah. Uh just dropped Hana off at the train station. Definitely feels a little weird. I’m being by my own for the first time on this trip, but I think uh I just need to move a little bit and then that first moment of all goodness will pass. I’m also playing with the idea of doing one big massive day tomorrow, but I think it depends a little bit on the weather and the conditions. Yeah, it’s definitely a thought. I’ve been riding on a rather sandy and rocky path for quite a while. I hope that will change eventually because it’s costing quite some energy. Although it is really beautiful and I think it raises the chances of me seeing an elk. Oh yes. Back to [Music] the same road for 25k. Uh, it’s not too busy. There’s still quite some cars coming about. I think for most of the day, I’m going to ride on a street like this. It’s 50k left to the town, but my apartment has not been confirmed yet. Let’s see. [Music] I have around 30k left. The apartment is confirmed. It’s a selfch checkckin, which is amazing because that means I can take the bike inside with me. And once I have some food in my stomach and once I’ve showered, I’m going to reassess how I want to approach tomorrow. Hey, Hannah, I told you it’s going to get more exciting after Tun. I mean, look at this. So different. [Music] This is the first turn in forever. I feel like since Tun I’ve just been riding on state roads that are more or less empty, but the amount of riding straight ahead is incredible. [Music]
