[Music] They say you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket. And perhaps the organizers of the tour to France did just that with stages eight and nine. After a quiet day to Laval, the hope was that after a little bit of a an ear tugging by the organizers that stage 9 would prove to be very very different. Destination Chatu similar distance of 174 kilometers but wind the major factor and it was starting to eb into the minds of everyone who was about to start. The riders are rolling to the start of stage nine of the tour to France. We have had interviews in the mix behind here. The sprinters are keen for another chance but also the GC team spoke to Yonas Vigor from Visa bike. If there is wind out there, if there is possible crosswind, they will for sure try something. Wind most definitely gusting up to 40 km per hour an average for the Westerly. Well, around 18 to 20 km per hour, but you just never know when the action might begin. was our hope for a more dramatic day, a pacey day to Laval, but this potentially very different. Just as the course started to zigzag late on, it meant that there will be a combination of crosstail wind and full-on crosswind in our run to our home of Chatau today. [Music] No categorized climbs along the way, but an early sprint to tempt those who might go for it. Kilome zero. Well, as you can see, bit between the teeth and away they went. Just the two of them, you understand? Yonas Rickettt and Matthew Vanderpole. What on earth was going on? Well, everyone thinking this won’t last. Maybe it’s just a bit of showboating and they’ll sit up any moment. Rickard had a job, had a plan. Riding along with him, Matthew Vanderpole, well, he knew the detail as well. Nobody else did. And the gap, well, it expanded. There was lots of blank faces looking at each other thinking, “What on earth is happening now?” What was happening was a mighty push. Would it be over at the intermediate sprint? That was the big question. Well, the gap edged out towards the 3minut mark and the sprint Julie came with a margin getting up to the 4-minute mark. Did they sit up? Absolutely not. Well, confusion still rained. There was a sort of a modest chase just behind the man in the green jersey is of course Jonathan Milan. And of course, he made sure that the points that were on offer here went his way. And then everyone thought, right, let’s just wait for this to air as we flow. And it didn’t happen. 4 and 1/2 minutes now. 5 minutes. And well, nerves starting to fray. And likewise, some skin was being left upon the road. I’m afraid some were to suffer far worse than others. There was a kind of a pacing duty on the front with still 124 km to go. The belief was that 5 and 1/2 minutes could be bridged. Zimmerman took a really heavy fall. Looked like he’d been in a battle with a a cheese grater, I’m afraid. And the news coming in that Shiao Almeida had succumbed to his rib injury and was out of the race. Meanwhile, those up front were still going for it. Brave Rickettt and Vanderpole. Rickettt given a combativity award early on on the day. Meanwhile, everyone else still wondering about what resources to spend closing them down. The pace of the day was reasonable. We were over 40 kilometers an hour for much of it. This that news finally confirmation that Almeida would indeed be departing the race. And what a shame for him and what a shame for Terry Pukatcha as well with a vital support man for the mountains now out of the race. Well, sometimes the wind causes echelons. Sometimes just the very thought that it might even be there causes echelons. Well, with some of those who would contend the day off the back, those who would put them indeed to the sword metaphorically you understand pushed on. Then there was a reathering and then there was a recalibration and everyone thinking right we need to spend our resources properly here if we are going to wind out or wind in those who are up the road. Well out and back they came the the gap ebbing and flowing and when it got down to 90 seconds with what just over 30 kilometers remaining we were starting to think right they are done for. The problem was the chase couldn’t get a cohesion about it and they were running out of resources spending vital riders, the sprinters teams that would be involved perhaps in a lead out. The pair up front of course was supposed to be leading out Caden Groves. So what would he do by the end of the day? Questions, questions, but what would be the answer? And indeed, how deep and how far would the pair go who were up the road? It was absolutely remarkable. They were holding a margin. There was a lot of fatigue out there and plenty of riders including Watt Vanard had to wrestle to get themselves back on. Bouncing under the minute then back over it. This was absolutely fascinating. Well, finally some of the GC teams decided to join the chase here in hot pursuit. Nobody wanted anything silly to happen. But how would this remarkable day end? finally released on his own. Matthew Vanderpole was going for it. Could he would he possibly make it home? The margins were coming down. Heartbreak for some. But who [Music] 740 m to the line, the adventure’s over and now it’s time for a sprint. IP moving up through the center. Medal following the wheels on the right hand side. Danny from Popples there as well. Merc is further back in the blue and white. They go left, they go right. They avoid the elbows. The G green giants there again. Milan on the left hand side following in. It’s from Pa who starts to lead out on the left. Look at this on the right though. That was Stewart. It’s Akaman following. He’s perfectly placed. We’re a few hundred meters from the line. There goes Mid Media on the right hand side. But again, it’s Milan in front. It’s Medlin gaining. Medley is there. He might have the beating of him. They go to the line and Tim Mlier at the double. Wow. Wow. Wow. What a remarkable day it turned out to be. Timalia doubles up having beaten at Milan on stage three into Dunkirk. He’s done it here in Chatau. [Music] What a day and what a brave break it was for the line. Balia take it ahead of me. Deli and Bitner. Me and B were together here in uh in the tour. First time we were together and I was so uh so much more confident with him uh in front of me. I did a really good job. Uh one moment I thought it was box 10, but I can come out just before 200 m or maybe just after I don’t know anymore. just go all in and uh I’m happy uh I can uh win my uh second stage here this year. Thank you very much. Thank you too. Great effort. Meanwhile behind I mean at one point Machivan Depal was the effective leader of this race that didn’t happen. Taliba stays in control overall ahead of a Nepal vocal Bango and of course Jorgensson Vander Paul dropping one place to six in the overall standings. Oh get your breath and get ready for stage 10. Mondor is up ahead. Only 165 kilometers but eight categorized climbs along the way. This is going to hurt. It was designed to be a bit of a spectacle. Of course, it’s Bastile Day, so French riders will be gunning to be in the breakaway. Can you imagine if the breakaway today had succeeded? It looks likely tomorrow. Let’s wait and see as the tour to France rolls on brilliantly here. [Music]

put MVDP on the cover that was unreal
Wonderful commentary! 🙂
GTs are about long game, alliances, politics – like life. Different to render on Netflix. Minion teams who helped the chase today will be rewarded later.
What a gay sport. Real men play NFL football
Está BN por qué así tube algo que hacer y no ví sábado y domingo algo sin desnivel
Lower your prices
MvdP amazing!!! That is what cycling is about ❤️
Looks like tomorrow it's going to be brutal…
I don't know what MVDP's strategy was but why did he try to breakaway in today's stage? He shouldn't have spent this much energy because he will need it more for tomorrow's mountain stage.
Exciting stage!
MvdP deserved better.
Stop saying IPT for god's sake!
Milan needs to lower his head an gg for any sprint.
Sexist rat kisses the podium girl but no the podium boy 🙂 I know somebody who will sleep really well tonight but be really sore tomorrow. Watch out for MVP in two days time.
Great thing about sport, it’s every person for themselves; allegiances outside of the team do not exist.
Well done
MVP is absolutely cooked. Tomorrow he will be dropping out of the top 10 for sure 😂
Why tf are GC chasing
Don't them birds at the end do lippy's?
That's some beats boy
Battle with a cheese grater 🙂 lol
Second fastest ever tour De France stage in history! mvdp sure made them work 💪🏼
Which sport has fewer participants that actually WANT to win than road cycling?
Only Ben Healy and MVDP have made the most dull, boring opening week of the TDF watchable. Let's hope the mountain stages provide some actual racing.
4:20 "metaphorically you understand?" Really? I thought they'd been run thru with swords!
Comments full of morons who know nothing about cycling who think MvdP has blown his GC chances🤣
MVDP!!!! A Hero! Only of you try the impossible you can become a legend. Great Respect
What an effort from those 2! They must’ve been so spent and just imagine if they had pulled it off!
MvdP didn’t win but the amount of exposure he got may even be worth it on its own.
Very impressive by Merlier! He doesn’t have an entire team built around him for this race, the way Milan does.
thats how a faked stage looks like. just to entertain, OMG and so many still believe it 🤑
So what was the bonus given to MVDP and their tea, by ASO to make another potential boring stage at a weekend some what interesting ? ….was great to see though, and super exciting to see them staying out there… hope it was genuine
Идиотская подача гонки, ничего не понятно, бред какой-то!!!
Please cut the music out, why??
Get David Brent off commentary, please!
Merlier is untouchable. Best sprinter since 2024.
Soudal are full of sprinters 😊
Tim Merlier is the fastest man on earth
Another channel's "Short" video features a post-race interview with Mathieu ❤ he stated that Rickaert admitted he "really wanted to get on the podium," so they worked for the Prix de Combativité, and the reporter in that appeared to confirm that Rickaert won it. Rickaert did accelerate first, and Mathieu caught him quickly, so that would make sense.
Quoting MVDP ❤ "… then I'm really happy!"
(So am I ~ that brings out the essence of "team")
Wow… I'm looking at the Stage 10 course map; all the little 😂 "hairpins" are clearly marked along the entire course. There are dozens of them!
If anyone else knows the road from Creede, Colorado, north through Lake City, I'm guessing that they have similar patterns.
Hopefully, the Peloton has a better survival rate than today.
WTF how badass is MVDP 😮❤
Merlier is extremely dangerous even without a lead out
