Hi All,

Felt my seat tilting a bit oddly after 20 mi this morning and decided to stop to check it out. Much to my surprise this is what I saw. Crazy.

This is a 3 yr old FSA Light Carbon post — the torque was checked this week on the collar. I’ve ridden this many miles maybe 2500 or so.

Replacing but curious about any thoughts on how it happened. Maybe my torque wrench is garbage? It was a cheap one off Amazon.

Crazy.

  1. i would probably hold the wrench accountable, cheap amazon products dont tend to have the best tolerances..it sure has the look of an overtightened sestpost.

No fear unlocked. How far from home were you when this happened? My hope is you can fit it back in to ride back with a really short seat post.

  3. Grab the wera wrench I swear by it I work as a mechanic on the road and see hundreds of bikes per event and it’s never let me down.

  4. The thing about seat post torque is that you don’t need to torque until you hear the click. If the clamp holds far below the torque spec, then it holds and it’s ok.

But I guess it’s worth wondering if the torque reading is inaccurate…
