Just want to make sure I lm not damaging anything while I get parts to service shock and replace wheel. Front fork is resting on box to maybe take strain off
I mean its not great to hang it by the dropper post period

If the stand is sturdy why would you worry?

As long as the dropper is fully extended then you’re fine. I’d take it down if it’ll be longer than a week, but that’s just paranoia, not due to any real risk of damage.

It’s probably ok ….i have definitely left my bikes like this mid teardown thinking I was gonna come back to finish something then didn’t until the next day. BUT would be better if you exposed enough post to clamp on the lower section of the dropper instead. Then no worries at all.

Generally not recommended to clamp by the dropper extension. If you can, mark the seatpost height and extend the dropper body, clamp lightly there.

Leaving the bike clamped by its seatpost for years would be just fine: no worries!
Clamping the dropper post as shown won’t stress it more than your active rider weight: not a big concern.
If you wanted to go the “extra mile” you could pull the post partially out of the frame and clamp the fixed portion of the post in your stand.

Clamp the frame top tube
Otherwise yeah I’ve left bikes hanging for years and they’re still hanging rn lol

There are some people who put their sports cars on jack stands all winter so their tires won’t develop any flat spots. You’re good. It’s a repair stand and you’re doing repairs.

Super sketchy. Just a big “no”

I have project bikes that I’m going to “get to one day” that have been like this for literally years. It’ll be fine.

Put blocks between the brake pads in case the lever gets squeezed.
Maybe not the best to leave that stress on the dropper post for too long? I dunno, not an expert. If you’re worried about it, flip the stand clamp sideways and rest the top tube in it. Can’t hurt it that way.

Every bike that has gotten suspension serviced with bearing overhauled has sat like this at some point while waiting for parts.
