  1. Damn – I have this exact bike. I thought it was overpriced at $140 back in 2013, but I dug the paint enough to go for it.

It’s a great bike but that price is bananas. The U brake is a real buzzkill also.

  2. If that bike was in absolute mint, unridden condition it might be worth….. $500. That one might be worth $100.

  3. NeonChrysanthemvm on

Similar one on NYC Craigslist going for $900 in a C+ condition. These people are out of their gourds on price.

  4. Hot take.

26″ bikes are fun for the novelty and nostalgia.

    29ers are a night-and-day difference, superior ride.

I’d never spend big $$$ on an old 26″, threaded headset relic.

  5. It might be listed for that price, but who is actually paying? A few years back my brother was in possession of an 89 StumpJumper Team, one of 2 or 3 that ever existed here in New Zealand, and previously owned by a nationwide much loved sponsored pro. He sold it (to a friend admittedly) for a very reasonable price, knowing he wouldn’t get much for it in the wider market.

If this listing you’ve shared is in the US, it reinforces my feeling that Americans love to overprice their vintage goods.
