In this video I look at the Silca Mattone. I used it for a few months but liked it so much I bought another one.

hi guys J here normally I come on YouTube to review something that I’ve replaced like a bike and to see the pros and cons of it or to find a solution to a problem that I’ve been having for a little while and had to kind of do some research about it today is the latter let’s find out what it [Music] is now recently L I bought a flash new specialized sl8 Pro and it looks pretty sweet in my opinion the problem I had was storage and I want the storage to look good on my bike I’ve looked around for a while on my previous bike I bought a saddle bag from a previous company which looked pretty good but it was Heavy uh and the stuff rattled around inside of it and I’ve had saddle bags like this one which just flap around all over the place and they’re quite big and not Compact and they’ve got velro on them and you know they just hang down like a saggy ball sack no one wants a saggy ball sack hanging from your rear seat so I was looking for a solution that would fix this problem and I think I might have found it and it’s from Silka it’s the matone seat pack saddle bag whatever you want to call it but it’s pretty sweet it looks quite good when you’re cycling around doesn’t look too offensive and it is very practical especially these days where you don’t need a massive inner tube Silka have said a lot of things about the practicality of it so let’s have a look at it so I’m just in the packet now here’s one which I’ve been using for a while that’s been on my bike so we’ll have a look what’s inside it of course you got this nice bow dial and it’s great there’s no velro on this in my opinion you got an off-center aqua guard zip which allows the case to completely open and lay flat when off the bike there’s a high friction hyperon strap with a Boer closer dial and it’s supposed to be 15 times or at least that’s what Silka says 15 times the power of the velcro the bow closes using the ratcheting mechanism bit like your shoes if you’ve got any on the shoes so it won’t creep and it won’t stretch or loosen under the mo most extreme vibrations and impact that’s what we need no swinging swaying or rattling ever let’s have a look what is in my full one then okay got a dart in there which um obviously fixes my tubis multitool couple of Tire levers and a spare tube obviously it’s a nice lightweight Tu light one and in the next bag I’ve got one and you can I normally have actually two for a long ride I think I just took one out one CO2 which is better if I put it on there so it doesn’t actually rattle around so there you go you can put two of those in there or I can put those two in here fold that over Pop that in there and I’ll pop the multitool behind there just so it doesn’t rub on the tube close it no flapping around at all really good so how easy is it to put on the bike pretty easy let’s have a look at it it’s actually harder putting it on from this side don’t want to be in the way of the camera just got to mount there for the light nice and snug no snagging as they say and I’ve got a sticks light that I’ll put on how does that look that’s it guys thanks for watching give me a thumbs up if you like the content and please subscribe and I will see you again soon for some more good products that provide a solution to a problem

Cool top tips
I have this saddle bag. I find the retention loop a bit fiddly to install but the cool aesthetic and its ability to be ratcheted taut and compact against saddle, makes a bike look extra good. Super stylish, practical and if I had to replace it, it will be another Mattone. Not the Grande version though. Not that. haha
Hi, I just bought tubless tires. What is the "dart" tool you mentioned?
Cheers. Been looking for a solution for Pave seatpost as my last saddlebag rubbed against the seatpost and wore away some carbon fibre.
I was an early adopter of Silca rolls and they are well made and functional, but – the BOA did not stay fast which meant the rolls swung about under the seat. Some reported parting company with theirs completely. This seems to be a thing of the past now and mine are additionally secured with toe straps. The Mattone pack is compact and a neat fit. But its not going to be able to carry all the things you might want on a proper long ride, which to be fair is not its strong suit. Silca make the Grinta range of bags to deal with that requirement. Nonetheless, the Mattone pack is a good option for those who don't need to carry a workshop with them.
Where do I get a tube like you have in the video?
@jase…what taillight and mount did you use with the Silca Mattone saddle pack?
too wide at stem-leg rub…zipper sticks out..leg rub
Loved thehidupz bag what's the vendor name and bag names on cite thank you new member
thanks for sharing. Ive read some people complaining that the Bora dial will get dirt with time and stop working as it is on the bottom side. did you face such issue? thanks
That looks like a really poorly designed bag actually. I have a bag “with all that velcro.” I can take in on and off to adjust my seat faster than you can while fiddling with your boa strap, a strap that is fiddly and constantly exposed to tire spray and which will eventually fail and render the bag useless. An overly complicated Boa mechanism on a saddle bag is senseless! I can mount a light directly to my bag (as is the case for almost every other bag on the marker) that is pointing straight backwards. This bag has nowhere to mount a light, but even if it did it would have the light angled towards the sky. You use a separate fixed mount attached to the saddle in your set up to mount a light, which is just ridiculous. My “Velcro” is instantly adjustable so it will keep everything snug inside and keep the bag from “flopping around.” Never have I felt a bag move around while cycling and I doubt you ever have either. You mentioned no critiques of this bag, only invented critiques for traditional bags. Look at all of the negatives of this bag that some of your viewers have mentioned in this thread, none of which you care to share, or even considered. Your review seems disingenuous and I suspect this had to be a sponsored, but undeclared, review. If not sponsored, then you are guilty at the very least of using hyperbole simply to create content. If so, you are being dishonest and are doing a disservice to your viewers. If your viewers don't trust you, why should they ever follow you.
I like this bag. I have a similar one from Lumière & Co. I couldn’t care less that it takes 5 seconds more to take off my bike if I need it. I needed on that doesn’t attach to the post as I have a telescopic post. This looks good, I just happened to find the Lumière & Co. first
I really like the look of this and am waiting for one to arrive. However a couple of comments
1. Re Velcro fitted alternatives I have a Lezyne which fits just perfectly with Velcro – no saggy scrotum here, but it’s not as clean looking as the Silca for sure. A stringy tab on the zip opener and two webbing loops hanging down
2. Re things rattling around, this just means you have more room for light things with which to fill the space eg latex gloves.
Nice video thanks. Peace ✌️
Hi, will this bag stay away of a mountain bike dropper post? I am struggling to find a bag that does not interfere with my dropper post.
