Cycle from Osaka to Fukuoka with my buddy back in May. The route was 799km (+ a few km for coffee shop detours) over the course of 7 days.
It was a great mix of urban and rural scenery. We passed through the famous Shimanami Kaido cycle route by chance which was pretty stunning.
Hiroshima was another highlight, a really relaxed and friendly city.
Despite the romantic ideal of eating at small local Japanese eateries, due to the time pressures we ended up inhaling 7-eleven microwave rice meals 😢.
May was the perfect time of year for the ride. We had rain 2 out of 7 days but nothing unbearable, the other 5 days were perfect blue skies.
