Anybody out there rocking half clip pedals? They seem like a great compromise between flats and straps and also have a sick “cool” factor to them. Any downsides I’m missing here or do I just send it and grab some for my commuter?
I used them long ago and regret selling them with that bike. Really liked them.

I like the pedal way further back than these allow, otherwise they’d be kinda neat.

Rocking them on my Dahon on MKS Promanades. They’re a great compromise

Which model are those exactly?
I run [these MKS half clips](https://www.mkspedal.com/?q=en/product/node/153) without straps on fixed gear and like them but have to occasionally bend them back into shape. I’m wearing either with low profile sneakers or safety toe work boots so this post has piqued my interest.

Love them for city riding and road touring. The Velo Orange ones are great (if they’re not discontinued) and the leather wrap MKS ones are very luxy.

they’ll just put more pressure on you’re toes.
i personally wouldn’t recommend them, either commit to clipless or go with flats. half clips are just the worst of everything.

I use them.
They help you put your feet in the same place on the pedal each time. They also allow you to lighten up on your upstroke without your foot coming off. IMPO you can spin faster than without. They allow you to take your foot off the pedal very easily. I don’t feel safe unless I have some kind of clip.
I used regular clips and straps ages ago, but they’re not safe where I am now. I’m around cars and intersections too much and I’m afraid of my knee getting broken when someone hits me. (Half/quarter clip are safer.)
I would prefer to use Look road cleats, but that’s not an option for a variety of reasons. I absolutely cannot use SPD because they’re like torture devices. (Half/quarter clip are more practical and comfortable.)

I had some VO ones on a commuter years ago and really liked them. Super easy to use and seemed to help with pedal engagement

I had MKS full and half clips, it just got annoying so I got flats instead. Ymmv though

I do I do! I like the Zefal rubber ones, have them on two of my bikes right now. I also use the MKS stamped mini half clips, but they are tough on shoes.
Edit: I also switched from the MKS ones because I didn’t like when I would jump on the pedals before I flipped them, the metal MKS ones would hit the ground hard, the rubber ones just flex better on the rare occasion they hit the ground.

I have plastic ones, but I like those better.

I cut down a pair of plastic clips and they worked great.
I use half-clips. Mine are just lame black polymer ones by Evo. They were like 12 bucks (CAD) when I bought them. Was very happy with them until I saw yours just now which are so much fucking cooler. Goddamnit.

I run [these](https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=42608) cheap ones and as you’ll see, they do not look cool, but I like them. I could not get the hang of Power Grips, these are easier.
